Spanish judge removes girls from the custody of their Lesbian mother
A family affairs judge, Fernando Ferrín Calamita from the region of Murcia, Spain, has removed girls from the custody of their mother who is a lesbian and in a relationship and ordered that they be put in the custody of their biological father.

My translation:
"Why is the homosexual condition harmful for children? Well, concretely and as the defendent said, children have the right to a father and a mother, not two mothers or two fathers. That's what the prestigious specialists determine. It's not even necessary for someone to be a specialist to figure it out: common sense (which is at times is the least common among the senses) says that. Man and woman are complements to each other. Not two women or two men.

....

"It's the homosexual environment that is harmful to minors and that noticeably increases the risk that they too will be homosexual," he adds.

This is an unfortunate story, but I believe it's important to show that not everything is "hunky-dory" in countries like Spain, that does allow gay marriage and gay adoption. Spain still has its conservative parties, their own versions of "focus on the family" and what not.

For those that can read Spanish, here is a link to the original article:

3. Yeah.
Gay and Women's groups are getting involved and this story is causing a stir there, so hopefully it'll be rectified. The article goes on to say that the judge is being investigated for preventing another lesbian from adopting her partner's daughter. Thus, it looks like rulings like this might a pattern for this judge.

2. Disgusting!
I hope there'll be an appeal!

In the UK at least, judges are not the professional group best noted for being in touch with modern times. This may well also be the case in other Europaean countries.

4. Perhaps you're right about the judges
I know just last week, a different Spanish judge had all the copies of a weekly magazine, El Jueves removed from sale because it's front page had a caricature of the prince and his wife in a sexual position (such caricatures normally don't cause any news at all). The judge also had their website shut down for the time being. He said the cartoon was "injurious" to the crown. The royal family claims that they weren't even aware of the cartoon.
