MSNBC beating the gas price drum today
Edited on Mon Jul-23-07 12:58 PM by Texas Explorer
Every fifteen minutes today MSNBC has had some talking head from US News and World Report on beating the "refineries causing high gas prices" drum while he makes NO MENTION of http://environment.independent.co.uk/climate_change/article2790960.ece">this article in today's Independent which has oil industry big-wigs saying we have real energy issues developing that will fundamentally change our way of life within just a few years.

Yes, there are refinery problems, but what that USNWR guy neglects to say is why refinery problems are occuring. Because the supply of light sweet crude oil has been depleted, refineries are now getting sour (heavier, nastier) crude, even from Saudi Arabia. Heavy crude has a higher sulfur content and is much "dirtier". This causes a higher concentration in the refining process of sulfuric acid, which corrodes very expensive components as well as causing some of the fires we've seen.

To see every fucking single person who talks on TV spewing the bullshit lies about EVERYTING and ANYTHING day after day after day is driving me absolutely insane. If they're not lying, they're just leaving out the parts we really need to know. I'm about out of hair to pull out!

and has got to become an issue fast in the political world. You're right it's going to change our lives. We're going to have to grow up as a culture and accept that radical changes are going to have to be made. Otherwise, it's all going to end in chaos.

Edit: On growing up, notice how the report says there should be an immediate crackdown on 4x4's - they mean SUV's. That's going to be a hard sell. People in America will refuse that Suburban Disneyland is about to close.

4. Damn, it's amazing that this post slid down like this ...
... I advise everyone to read this article posted, and this is why I'm kicking this post. Impeachment is just a political game, and doesn't compare to the effect on our lives that this perpetual energy crisis is going to have. This issue of Peak Oil has got to become a standard issue on the docket - number one as far as I'm concerned.

pulling out your hair. I know, because the Bush people have been helping me find these alternatives for more than 6 years now. You can beat your head against things; you can chew your cheeks from the inside; you can rend your clothes with your fingers or teeth. You can chew sticks (I learned that one from my dog); you can hop up and down on one foot while whimpering or screaming incoherently...really, the alternatives are nearly endless, so don't despair about running out of hair.
