Sound like anyone you know?
I was reading this thread:

And I wanted to consider what quotes other monsters of modern times were remembered as saying.

Here are some of the ones that stuck out to me in a modern context-

"I am the King of Rome, and above grammar."
-Emperor Sigismund

“In all tyrannical governments the supreme magistracy, or the right both of making and of enforcing the laws, is vested in one and the same man, or one and the same body of men; wherever these two powers are united together, there can be no public liberty”
-William Blackstone (not a monster) ;)

“We become strong, I feel, when we have no friends upon whom to lean, or to look to for moral guidance.”
-Benito Mussolini

“All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.”
-Benito Mussolini

"It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything."
-Joseph Stalin

"Any alliance whose purpose is not the intention to wage war is senseless and useless."
-Adolph Hitler

"By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise."
-Adolph Hitler

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator - by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."
-Adolph Hitler

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator."
-Adolph Hitler

"I do not see why man should not be just as cruel as nature."
-Adolph Hitler

"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."
-Adolph Hitler

"Strength lies not in defense but in attack."
-Adolph Hitler

"The art of leadership... consists in consolidating the attention of the people against a single adversary and taking care that nothing will split up that attention."
-Adolph Hitler

"The leader of genius must have the ability to make different opponents appear as if they belonged to one category."
-Adolph Hitler

"Universal education is the most corroding and disintegrating poison that liberalism has ever invented for its own destruction."
-Adolph Hitler

"We are advocates of the abolition of war, we do not want war; but war can only be abolished through war, and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun."
-Chairman Mao

"Japan attempted to circumvent these dangerous circumstances by diplomatic negotiation, and though Japan heaped concession upon concession, in the hope of finding a solution through mutual compromise, there was no progress because the United States would not retreat from its original position."
-Hideki Tojo

"The causes of the China Incident were the exclusion and insult of Japan throughout China, the exclusion of Japanese goods, the persecution of Japanese residents in China, and the illegal violation of Japanese rights."
-Hideki Tojo

"To advocate a New Order was to seek freedom and respect for peoples without prejudice, and to seek a stable basis for the existence all peoples, equally, and free of threats."
-Hideki Tojo

“Fascism is a religious concept.”
-Benito Mussolini

“Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power.”
-Benito Mussolini

4. Indenturedebtor..yes and also this
" Today Christians stand at the head of the Nation.. I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy Christianity. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian Spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developements in literature, in the theatre, and in the press- in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past few years."
Adolph Hitler

February 16, 1933 Attributed to "The Speeches of Adolph Hitler", 1922-1939, Vol. 1, pg. 871-872
(London, Oxford University Press, 1942.

and:

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship.

Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
Hermann Goering, Nazi Reichsmarshall and Luftwaffe-Chief

18 April 1946 from: " Nuremberg Diary", Gilbert, G.M. New York: Farrar, Straus and Company, 1947 (pp. 278-279).

I will this week take them all and arrange them by category: education, war, peace, religion, etc. I think it would be a powerful tool for our friends who don't pay attention and don't really wanna know how bad things are right now...
