LTTE: Vitter accusers are casting the first stone!
Oh, PS, a google searsch shows us that this particular 'social worker' was an "adoption and maternity social worker with Catholic Community Services". She coordinated services for "troubled families" (I am reading that to mean make sure nobody gets an abortion....) Now she is at some Methodist Children's home, no doubt teaching the little dears that anything is possible if you are a Republican.

=====

Sen. David Vitter’s actions, in my opinion, are neither to be condemned nor condoned. His transgression, we are told, is the oldest sin known to mankind. Oh, I see, it is his hypocrisy that is unforgivable, and, thus, he must be removed from the political arena, lest we all fall prey to his example of moral weakness. Come on. It happens all the time. Hopefully, our moral intellect will override our immoral behaviors.

Why are politics about digging up the most dirt? I know, because that’s how you win. It’s not about what the candidate proposes to do for the state or country and how to do it. Instead of voting for a candidate, we obviously, it appears, vote against his opponent. We don’t support who we think is most qualified, but rather who, we feel, is least offensive.

All of this archaeological excavation really wastes energy that could be put to better use. Or else, why don’t we just go ahead and dig up the entire dirt we can find and put it on the table. It might save some time.

David Vitter is a human being, and human beings “sin” and make terrible mistakes. Haven’t you heard it’s not for you or me to judge? Yet we do — what hypocrites. Are his accusers trying to say that only the “perfect” can run for office? Whoever wants to throw the stones and remove the specks let them step forward. I hope you have a spotless, clean background. I wouldn’t want to witness another case of hypocrisy.

To end, let me say that I know a positive story about David Vitter. Before the scandal, clients who were really in a bad way and needed help desperately made calls on Saturday to several local politicians. Sen. Vitter, R-La., was the only one who returned their call, spoke to them directly, and, I think, even gave them his cell number. For me, a candidate who could run for office and not say anything negative about his opponent is one I could cast a ballot for based on that rare quality alone.

Carol Pooley, MSW, LCSW
Social Worker

2. I might have been impressed if she had mentioned the "trouble' the clients were in.
Probably he was willing to talk them out of abortion. If he had been sticking up for gay people or something along those lines, I might be impressed.

5. Relative to Senator Vitter
I think the citizens of Louisiana can cast all the stones they want. Fuck specks in eyeballs. He is a public official depending on the votes of citizens who can take any and all good and bad about a candidate or elected official in their decision making process.

7. She has a point, and in most cases I would agree with her.
But Vitter threw the first stones -- at Clinton and at Livingston -- and at gays and lesbians who want to exchange vows and keep them. That is Vitter's problem. He has apologized for paying a prostitute for sex, but he hasn't apologized for casting the first stone at others. That is his real sin. He still has time. Let's see if he admits the sin of having cast the first stone himself -- and more than once.

Vitter needs to resign. He is going to attract too much flack. It will be unfortunate for his family. His kids will suffer. He is a fool to hang on. Democrats will be the first line of attack, but the real career shattering blows will come from some Republican upstart who, as he did years ago with Livingston, takes advantage of Vitter's past to push Vitter out of his political top spot in Louisiana. Vitter sealed his own fate when he gave in to his urges.

Remember Gary Hart -- great guy -- made a really stupid mistake. I bet Ms. Pooley did not write an article asking the public to forgive Gary Hart. I'd like to see what she wrote on the Clinton matter.

10. Exactly. Vitter ran on a frickin' PLATFORM of "throwing stones". Turnabout is fair play. nm

11. Not casting the first ones, just picking up the ones he threw and chucking them back at him.

12. Pahleeze! It appears that Carol has missed the point entirely.
I could care less who David Vitter has sex with, it's about the hypocrisy. He ran for office claiming the moral high ground. He was the one that said Clinton should resign for his extramarital affair, and then refused to follow that criticism when he was caught doing the same thing.

Her "Come on. It happens all the time." line smacks of "move along, nothing to see here." Yeah, let's just sweep it under the rug and pretend it didn't happen. Except for, you know, that paying for sex is illegal.

15. I, for one, could care less if Sen. Vitter spends every dime on hookers. What bugs me is his
hypocrisy: "Impeach Clinton" and "I'm a representative of family values".
