Freepers oppose Bush's July 17 executive order
Re: Bush's "blocking property" executive order: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070717-3.html

You know the administration has gone too far when even the posters at Free Republic have a problem with it.

1. Bush has gone too far. Way too far.
But there are some here at DU that will tell you impeachment isn't a good idea.

Of course, they don't have any other suggestions that are any better, other than waiting for the 2008 elections, and then everything will be okie dokie again... :eyes:

Impeachment is about all Congress has left to uphold the Constitution, and it isn't even "on the table." Thanks, Congress. Heckuva job yer doin' there...

:sarcasm:

6. I called Carl Levin's office today
I told his aid that waiting Bush out might not be an option. Bush is acting like someone who doesn't plan to go anywhere in January, 2009. We need to act now, or risk losing our constitutional government.

2. They really should quit acting like they care about the Constitution. We all know it's unimportant
to them as long as their 401(k) keeps going up.

16. Some Freepers are hardcore Libertarians
...and they do, in fact, care. They tend to be drowned out, or worse.

The poster of this thread was a one of the more rational Libertarians on Free Republic. He is a Ron Paul supporter and like the other Ron Paul supporters on Free Republic does not like the war and is concerned about Bush's destruction of the Constitution. That's not to say he isn't a dyed-in-the-wool conservative. "Rodney King" was a member of Free Republic since 1999.

I say "was" because this post cost him his account. Eight years of Freeping and he was purged for calling Bush on his Constitutional liberties. That's why Free Republic is dying.

3. Good,
with that A**hole in the WH it was only a matter of time before he started doing things that pissed off his own apologists. Maybe someday soon they will also have had enough.

4. Here's one
SubGeniusX

Maybe its just me and my realistic way of thinking that is wrong.....but we (society) know less that .001% of what goes on in the world. So I am thinking there is a reason for this. I am thinking the reasons are decided by very smart men that DO know whats going on.

I am setting in a cubicle diagnosing a man’s computer fault codes in his car from 600 miles away and typing in a forum. Thats why I don’t judge things like this. Cawz I don’t know what or why it was done. I do know that it was done by people a hellofa lot smarter than me.

if a possible Clinton presidency starts becoming more likely.

10. And hard to navigate
If I had not come across that thread in a Google search, I doubt I would have found it. It's hard enough to read the stuff posted there. The site's design makes it downright painful.

12. convincing one's self, much?
"Who reads FR? Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic since inception in 1996 and our forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and all around the world. Oh, we're big stuff all right!"

the best:

"When and if our readers decide we are no longer needed or viable, we will close down shop and go away."

If only.

13. Wake up and smell the fascism, Freepers. It's your country, too.
Edited on Mon Jul-23-07 06:24 PM by SpiralHawk
Wake up. The BushCo Cabal is only using you. Everything - and I mean everything that you profess to care about -- is going down the crapper so the elite, fat cats can CONTROL.

No tin-foil hats needed. Deal with the facts. YOU freepers have helped create a monster that is destroying the Constitution and the USA.

If you care about your freedom, your children, and your country, you better act now to remove Bush and his cabal of corrupt cronies from office.

14. Imagine it
Imagine DUers and Freepers united in the common cause of preserving the Constitution!

The fact some of them seem willing to do that is encouraging. But I am not naive. I know that a lot of then are authoritarians.

15. So just what does the scroat-belly boatload propose to do about it?
Considering that they voted for The Commuter twice, the irony is ripe.

17. They haven't gone too far in their own eyes
And since Cheney and Rove only let Bush see what they
want him to see, he could declare the fourth Reich and
not have the slightest idea that he had overstepped any
limits. This is why Gonzo hasn't resigned yet. He really
doesn't think there is any reason why he should, and neither
does Junior. Not us, not the Freepers, not the Congress will
convince these guys of the contrary. Not only impeachment
by the House will do that. Only conviction and removal from
office by the Senate could do that, and there are too many
RW senators who would vote against conviction of Bush even
if he had shot the Pope on Larry King Live (he would probably
cackle, with a South African accent, "Diplomatic immunity!"
and think he had just used his get-out-of-jail card)
