Occupiers Make Iraq Insecure: Sadr

BAGHDAD, July 22--The occupiers are responsible for the insecurity in Iraq, and they must leave the country as soon as possible, director of al-Sadr office in al-Karkh said Sunday.

In an exclusive interview with Alalam TV, slamming the continuous presence of American forces in Iraq, Sheikh Mazen Sa'id, said that security would not be established in Iraq until the occupiers leave the country affairs to Iraqis themselves.

He criticized the high level of power transfered to the occupying forces by the Iraqi government and said the US "will never seek to protect Iraqis' interests."

Denouncing any cooperation with the US as 'fruitless', he said US presence in Iraq was the main cause of escalated terrorist operations in the country.

He continued that, "by targeting some certain mainstream groups in Iraq in the name of al-Qaeda, the US is expanding terrorism roots in the country instead of promoting rule of law."
