1. I wonder who was responsible for that segment,
and what consequences they may be facing right now?

Whether one liked it or not, IMHO it was inappropriate.

22. Yeah... I felt that one was scraping the bottom of the barrel.
With all the possible ways to approach that particular story, it seems they could have done better than the snarky Joan Rivers-esque wardrobe critique.

3. Keith is full of class. I felt uncomfortable with that segment and with Alison Stewart's
cattiness. She reminded me of those wrongwing news models that I despise.

27. Indeed it was, but Wendy Vitter is more to be pitied than censured for her bad taste. nt

6. Good. I thought it was a pretty obnoxious segment
snarkily delivered by Alison whatsherface, whom I usually like pretty much. I was a little shocked that she'd do something so tacky. Gook for KO for apologizing.

13. I love Olberman, but wish he hadn't said what he did
Edited on Mon Jul-23-07 07:59 PM by MODemocrat
He's so well regarded; but that remark really makes him seem sexist. Yes, I know, Mrs, Vitter hasn't been at all kind to Hillary in the past; but Hillary just rises above it. Mrs. Vitter had no idea what she would do if her husband cheated on her; so she shouldn't have bragged that she was more like Bobbit than Hillary! You have to walk in someone's shoes to know their feelings.

16. Huh? The segment discussed here happened when KO was off and Alison Stewart
guest hosted. No remarks in that segment were made by KO, he wasn't there.

Or are you referring to some other remarks actually made by Olbermann at some other time?

18. No, it's the one while Stewart was on.
I think as managing editor of Countdown and the person whose name is on the show, Keith feels responsible for it even when he's away, and that makes sense.

I did not see what the huge honking deal about it was, but even so, I'm glad he apologized because now it's done and people can stop using it as a brickbat against him. I get so sick of liberals AND conservatives trying to make him out to be this horrible misogynist.

23. I was very gratified by his statement
I don't wanna open up a can of crying little girls in Catholic dresses*, but the snickering tone of that segment was more appropriate for DU than KO. At least it didn't have Michael Musto!

*I had a dress just like the one the Santorum girl was wearing, when I was just about her age. Granted, we're talking about 1962; but I imagine that 1962, on the eve of Vatican II and its reforms, is exactly the year where time froze in Rick Santorum's mind.

that she would cut off her husbands dick if he ever cheated on her like Bill Clinton did Hillary.

29. I remember at the time of that segment thinking someone's head is going
to roll for this one. Before retiring I was fortunate to be the assistant to upper-level executives. "Remember, it's my name up on that building" was a favorite from one of them. I doubt Allison wrote the piece but it had to have been approved by someone. Dan??? Keith did the right thing, it's his name on the show and he feels responsible. Good on him...

It does show some integrity by KO to apologize for that segment but it was no worse than some of the things that Michael Musto has said.
