Pakistan 'no' to Bin Laden strike

Pakistan has again said it opposes any military strike by
the United States against Osama Bin Laden, if he is
confirmed to be in Pakistan.

Foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri told the BBC public
opinion in his country would not tolerate such an attack.

He said he was concerned that any US operation against
Bin Laden could lead to dozens of civilian deaths.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said the US recognised
Pakistan's sovereignty, but the Bush administration always
maintained the option of striking actionable targets.

Earlier Mr Kasuri had said that Bin Laden was not in Pakistan.

We do need to find Bin Laden because he is a real threat, a much bigger threat than Hussein ever was. Civilian casualties are definitely a big concern though.

As an aside, Dems really need to pound the GOP as weak on defense. I want to see ads from Democrats criticizing Republicans for being soft on terror, like criticizing Bush. Bush doesn't care about defending America. Bin Laden is still out there. Stuff like that. We also need to use it against whoever the GOP nominee is.

FWIW, I want the troops out of Iraq, but I would like to see us train more special forces. If we had a thousand more or so Rangers and Green Berets in Afghanistan than that would be fantastic. Just a small scale operation. It would help a LOT. These guys are trained to do what we need. Find Bin Laden.

2. But you know what?
But you know what, what isn't mentioned enough? There is a very real possibility that Bin Laden is dead. it would be just like those guys to hide his death. I don't suspect we will know the truth for awhile. Bush doesn't want to think that Bin Laden is dead because it weakens his terror threats

I also do not trust Musharraf. He is a Bush crony and a fascist dictator. We need to send more support to India and lean on Pakistan. India's development is remarkable. We do need leverage against Musharraf and by allying ourselves with a strong and reasonable country like India(Hindu country and not Muslim is just a bonus) we can do exactly that.

I think India has somewhere around 150 million Muslims and about 800 billion Hindus if I remember correctly. Nice to see that the right people are running things
