add Switzerland to the list of countries with dangerous flooding

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

The forecast for more rain this week has put authorities in Bern on edge after a state of emergency was declared over the weekend. Following three days of storms, the Aar River has risen to dangerous levels. The current of 374 cubic meters per second exceeds the volume of 365 cubic meters that normally signals an emergency situation. Heavy rains have already flooded basements, knocked down trees and led to landslides cutting roads and rail lines around the national capital. Authorities sent warning messages to residents with mobile phones living close to the Aar River to evacuate threatened locations. The communities of Altenberg and Bremgarten, where the Aar has spilled over its banks, were among the worst hit. The Bern area got a reprieve Sunday when the rain let up but forecasts call for more precipitation today and throughout the week. Other parts of Switzerland have also suffered from the deluge. The countryside around Lucerne received up to 55 liters of rain per cubic meter on a single night over the weekend.

1. I check out the weather news from around the globe
and consider us so incredibly fortunate here in South Mississippi. Our weather has been outstanding compared to most of the planet. Still got to get through the hurricane season but so far, so good.

2. Another example of great changes occurring around the world.

Here in the Hill Country of Texas, normally an arid climate in the summer months, we have had 3.5 inches of rain since Saturday....WAY above normal and we're fifteen degrees farenheit Below normal temperatures for this time of year. Yet, my kids who live in MN....son in central part of state remembered only a light shower on the Fourth of July for this month! The lakes north of him where I lived fifteen years are at record low levels....some so low that docks were not put in this year.
Edit: The temps in MN have been hotter than here in Texas for weeks now!

Also read about the polar clouds that are now being seen in parts of northern Europe. So many places where the "weather" is abnormal. I fear that while our attentions are directed to the political side of our lives the environment isn't getting enough attention....URGENT attention that is. Some recognize its importance but many poo=poo it as normal, cyclical changes.
