Impeachment is a necesary component to a successful exit from Iraq.
America has lost the goodwill of the world. To get it back we have to reject the Bush administration and all of their policies. Impeaching George Bush and Dick Cheney and then turning them over to the International Court in the Hague is the first step in getting America back in the good graces of the world.

In order to maintain any stability in Iraq after we remove our forces, the international community will need to be involved. As long as American policy is seen as an extension of Bush administration policy, large parts of the world will not help stabilize Iraq. Impeachment and then trial for war crimes sends the clear signal that American policy is changing and we recognize and reject the crimes of our prior leaders.

The path out of Iraq starts with impeachment.

the best efforts of our best leaders and diplomats...not the worst ones. We must have adults in the WH who have different goals and different capabilities than these guys.

I dont' care if that happens through impeachment or resignation or compromise or whatever. But waiting for January 2009 for the current occupiers of the WH to do the right thing is absolutely the wrong approach.

2. The ICC has absolutely no jurisdiction over the US
We never ratified the necessary Rome Treaty.

Besides, impeachment would best be served by congressional investigations. Those investigations are ongoing now. You should move on impeachment after you've unearthed prima facie evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

And if conviction fails, the troops would stay.
