Excerpts From Dr. Justin Franks soon-to-be-Updated Psychological Analysis of GWB
Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) has recently commissioned an updated Psychological Analysis of GWB in the same manner as he did in his book, "Bush On The Couch" and will be releasing it in the next few days. Ray McGovern included some excerpts from it in a letter he left at John Conyers office yesterday. It can be found here:

http://consortiumnews.com/2007/072407a.html

Regardless of how you feel about what Ray took part in at Conyers office yesterday.

Dr Justin Franks did not take part in it and what he has to say is URGENT and SCARY AS HELL.

PLEASE LOOK:

Many of us intelligence analysts have found utility in relying, in part, on short studies applying psychoanalysis to develop profiles of foreign leaders. (This marriage of psychoanalysis and intelligence work actually goes back to the early 1940s, when the OSS commissioned such studies on Hitler.) We called them “at-a-distance personality assessments.”

Three years ago Justin Frank, M.D., a psychiatrist here in Washington, wrote a book “Bush on the Couch” in which he provided keen insights into the president’s mode of thinking—or not thinking.

Eager to use every tool at our disposal, VIPS recently asked Dr. Frank to update his observations, with a view to forecasting, to the extent possible, how Bush is likely to react to the building pressures of the coming weeks and months. We will issue, perhaps as early as this week, Dr. Frank’s latest analysis, fortified by our own input. But we already have his preliminary analysis; there is no other word for it: Scary.

In a quick note to us this morning , Dr. Frank noted we are “dealing with a potentially cornered man could lash out, and it is possible that the best way would be to bomb Iran.... Whatever the root causes of Bush’s pathology, we have a dangerous man running things...grandiose and unchecked.”

Some snippets from the Memorandum that Dr. Frank is drafting for issuance under VIPS auspices:

“George W. Bush is without conscience...and destructive, willfully so. He has always likes to break things...most shocking is the way he is breaking our armed forces.

“He doesn’t care about others, is indifferent to their suffering...He is almost constitutionally missing the ability to sympathize or empathize...More indifferent to reality than out of touch with it, he makes up whatever story he wants.

“Ultimately, he is psychologically unstable...His goal is to destroy things without experiencing anxiety or a sense of responsibility. An equally important goal is to protect himself from shame, from being wrong, from being found small and weak.”

So what do we do?

3. No reasoned or logical argument will get through to him - he's a bad one
It's like we went out and found the biggest asshole we could find and put our lives in his hands. The people who rode Junior to the top have manipulated him and used his "flaws" to their own advantage. Unfortunately they have created a monster that might just do them in, too.

I don't see any good end to this. And Cheney is even more "cornered" and isolated. It's difficult to accept how messed up these two really are.

5. Not a psychological deformity, but a willful desire to turn the U.S. into a "banana republic".
The general consensus seems to be that Bush/Cheney are merely a couple of crazies who are ruining the country by their ineptness and a fringe mentality. I see them as implementing a well-thought out plan to bring the U.S. government to its knees so as to give de facto control of this country to a cabal of corporations. The latter will allow certain right-wing religious nuts control over social issues to further confound and demoralize the public.

The plan starts with demonizing the government, looting the treasury, promoting wedge issues, draining and demoralizing the U.S. military, giving corporations control of our lives through privatization with no oversight or accountability to the people, gutting the regulatory agencies, the Justice Department, the CIA, etc., and creating enmity toward the U.S. around the world. This descent of a once capable and confident country could not happen within only six years unless it was meticulously planned down to the smallest detail. It did NOT happen by accident. It happened by design.

What is the purpose? Even under Nixon, we had an EPA overseeing the environment, the financial markets were regulated, the foods and drugs available were guarded for safety. All that and more has vanished under Bush/Cheney. Now that the government has been emasculated and the corporations are running riot, the wealth and power of our "power elite" is unchecked and unlimited. Welcome to the "New America".

But, don't ascribe it to Bush/Cheney being inept, or crazy, or uncaring. This was all carefully planned out for them and they know exactly what they are doing.

7. You are absolutely correct. This has been planned in the last 40 years.
However sociopaths are needed to implement it, and Bush/Cheney et al fit the bill.

15. Bush is a psychopath, without a doubt. That does not preclude his aiding and abetting

the destruction of America's Middle Class; indeed, having a lead in such destruction satisfies both his sadistic psychopathy and his megalomania.

To George W, Bush, we are all frogs.

6. What is all Dumbya's crying about? If he gets into a sentimental
situation, he bawls like a prom queen getting crowned. I think it may only be about him though. I don't think he cries for others.

...and in fact that is the title of a book by Robert Hare, Phd about Psychopaths. Robert Hare developed the current testing modules for the diagnosis of psychopathy for the DSM IV.

16. Does such a profile exist for Cheney?
I'd be curious to see one- I suspect Cheney as being far more deliberative, for more controlled, far more "sane" (at least in definition) than shrub. But then the question becomes how do you profile pure evil?

20. Could he take a look at Al Gonsales?
That is one cold sob. Watched some of the hearings last night on c-span and he sat there staring at anyone that was bashing him severely without blinking. Then he would proceed to say he couldn't remember and couldn't discuss it, that was it, no emotion.
