17. I only use Maxell and Memorex |
|
Sony discs gave me a lot of shiny new coasters.
Depends a lot on your CD-RW drive...they can be kind of picky about which brands they like. Who knows why....

3. My success rate with their brand and Staples brand was very low. |
|
I've been pretty happy with BenQ, HP and Memorex.

10. How many disks are you trying to press out? |
|
I work down the hall from a professional high capacity burner system. They record then press disks of a series of MBA courses. Then the disks go out all over the world. It's wild to see the spindle that holds 500 disks at a time.

12. Ah. As a post below stated, your burner might be unhappy too. |
|
Make sure it's properly ventilated.

7. I've noticed with the HP ones that I've used that there seems to be a lot more pops and static. |
|
It's kind of weird, because I know the source files and CDs are clean, but only the HP discs come out like that on my system.
Memorex seems to be the consensus so far.

9. Interesting. I guess I've only ever used them for data. |
|
And as such, never noticed.
I know HP used to make music-specific CDR media. I wonder if there is a difference in the coatings between that and their data CDR media.
Weird.

5. Store brands seem to suck. |
|
I use nothing but Memorex now,and rarely have to coaster one.Steer clear of Durabrand and HP.Got a fifty pack of the Durabrand once because they were cheap and seven of the first ten screwed up.I threw the rest away.

8. Could your drive be the problem? |
|
I used to have this Sony DVD-RW drive that would burn a lot of coasters, so I ditched it and got an LG and it never spits out coasters.
