CNN: Terrorists going to blow up planes with Cheese
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 07:18 AM by spanone
that's right cheese with wires attached to it.

you can't make this shit up folks.....ONE CASE.....NATIONAL NEWS....ONE CASE

~snip~In one case last September, a couple in Baltimore, Maryland, checked a plastic bag with a block of processed cheese taped to another plastic bag containing a cell phone charger. Earlier this month in San Diego, California, a passenger checked a bag containing two ice packs covered in duct tape. The ice packs had clay in them instead of the normal blue gel.

5. guess what they do with the cheese
"We constantly feed intelligence and training information to our officers and the law enforcement community and this is one example of such information sharing," the TSA said in its statement.

2. Are they from Wisconsin? Minnesota?
What would the cows think if they knew their work was being so misused? Good thing they don't understand English.

on the general warning. Security Theater continues. Question is, were the Baltimore or San Diego passengers in any way possibly connected to any terrorists? The article says "most passengers' explanations for carrying the suspicious items were questionable, and some investigations are still ongoing."

If they are NOT linked to terrorism, then how can their scary cheese smuggling be a "dry run" for terrorism? And who wants to bet we never here about when the "ongoing investigations" are quietly dropped?

6. assuming it's true
maybe I'm missing something, but dont you find cheese taped to well anything weird, and taped to a cell phone charger even a little teeny bit concerning?

9. I'm with you.
It's not cheese that's going to blow up a plane. If they can pass with cheese this time, they could try to make the explosive material look more like cheese on a subsequent attempt.

I'm glad someone was paying attention to this.

12. Okay, as much as this is good fodder for cheese jokes, there is a concern...
IF it is true. They're claiming there is no connection to anyone with any connection to "terrorism." But I understand why this would be very disconcerting if true. The reason for blocks of cheese (and clay, remember; not all just cheese) should be pretty obvious...similar density and shape to a brick of plastic explosive. If they can get a brick of cheese wired to a cell phone passed screeners, that definitely is a matter of concern.

My only question is whether Dick authorized the use of his official cheese, or did he make them go buy their own?

16. Let's look at what we really DO know...
This is yet another very old story, coming from all the way back in SEPTEMBER, but they roll it out with impeccable timing...contempt charges filed, Gonzo caught lying directly to the hearings, etc, etc.

Oh, and now CHEESE TERROR!

Not a word, not one single word about the contempt charges on the news. Not a word.

But, oh that CHEESE!

Things that make you go "Hmmmmm."

11. A passenger cutting the cheese inflight should be considered an act
of terrorism. At least I'm sure his inflight neighbors would think so.

17. right now I am at work at SF International Airport
...and we're laughing about this! No security directive has come down from TSA for us to watch out for dairy products.

The tragedy is that we KNOW there are those out there who want to attack, but the way this inept misadministration has cried wolf so many times, we'll never be able to tell when we are faced with a credible threat.

In fact the only time the intel warned us about a credible threat, BushCo ignored it. As I recall, the briefing said: "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the US" and it was issued...hmmm...just about 6 years ago next month, right...?

18. What's the rest of this story?
Were the people who attempted to pass through inspection with cheese, etc. arrested?

Were they waterboarded to explain their actions?

Are they still in custody?

Who were they?

Until I see answers, I will assume it was another cheesy attempt by the little general to skeer us.

20. They were testing the system
the cheese can be a stand in for a series of explosives

But when they tell us these are dry runs... yes, yes they are... they are conducted regularly to test security...

But they want you to be afraid

22. "Don't fly your cheese to town, son..

"Don't Fly Your Cheese To Town"

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wonderlust who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined his boots
And combed his dark hair down
And his mother cried as he walked out

Don't fly your cheese to town son
Leave your cheese at home Bill
Don't fly your cheese to town

He laughed and kissed his mom
And said your Billy Joe's a man
I can shred as quick and straight as anybody can
But I wouldn't shred without a cause
I'd melt nobody down
But she cried again as he rode away

Don't fly your cheese to town son
Leave your cheese at home Bill
Don't fly your cheese to town

He sang a song as on he rode
His cheese wired at his hips
He rode into a cattle town
A smile upon his lips
He stopped and walked into an airport bar
And laid his money down
But his mother's words echoed again

Don't fly your cheese to town son
Leave your cheese at home Bill
Don't fly your cheese to town

He drank his first strong liquor then to calm his shaking hand
And tried to tell himself he had become a man
A cranky traveller at his side began to laugh him down
And he heard again his mothers words

Don't fly your cheese to town son
Leave your cheese at home Bill
Don't fly your cheese to town

Filled with rage then
Billy Joe reached for his cheese to slice
But the stranger drew his creese and cut it
Before he even saw
As Billy Joe fell to the floor
The crowd all gathered 'round
And wondered at his final words

Don't fly your cheese to town son
Leave your cheese at home Bill
Don't fly your cheese to town

24. OK, where are the people who did this?
If they even exist, I'd like to know what were their explanations? No, it's not good enough for me that they say they were questionable. Once I filled a Corona bottle up with sand from the beach in Cancun and thought I'd bring it home with me. Stupid, but I had no idea it was illegal. Lucky for me this was pre 9/11 or I'd be cooling my heels in Gitmo. Instead some nice person took my Corona bottle filled with sand and said I wasn't allowed to import sand into the US. I told them someone needs to tell that to the sea and we both laughed.

At least three of the four incidents involved U.S. citizens, the advisory says. While "initial investigations do not link them with criminal or terrorist organizations." Are they members of the RNC? I'm just sayin'.

said that the fear is that they will next try this with "other kinds of explosives". Cheese is an explosive? Who knew?
