Oh, the incredible dilemma of today's bush supporters
My brother in law whom I get along with great as long as we are not talking politics, has been all gung ho for the war. When it started he was just a super patriot. His son was in the eighth grade then. His son will soon be entering his Senior Year in High School. He recently got a call at home from an Army Recruiter. Wow. The shit hit the fan. How dare they try to get in touch with his son. He's going to college. Not much talk of the war anymore from my brother in law. For the love of my wonderful wife (his older sister) I won't offer my two cents worth. My wife and I are the only two military veterans on my wife's side of the family (not including her father) and the only two who have opposed the war from the start.

3. You're a stout fellow.
I'm not sure I'd be able do resist discussing it, though I'd be able to restrain myself from any smugness, I think, or any detectable smugness anyway. I'd still want to hear the guy's thought processes. But I'm likely more curious than you are about these things because I honestly don't think I've ever met anyone who supported that war. (I'm in Canada, and of course we have our warmongers here, but I don't know them.)

4. Back in 2005
the last time I ever discussed the war with him, his response was "well, we are already there." I love my wife way too much to cause turmoil in her family. And my mother in law is a kick ass democrat, so she and I get along great.

5. Hey Boss
I feel your pain, my sister, who unfortunately is the ONLY Republican in the family
remarried 2years ago to one of the most constipated conservative right wing controlling
Fukwads that I know, you can tell that I cant stand him at all (He looks like Rep Ric Keller R-FL).
My nephew joined the Army last Nov, and went thru basic and is in Norfolk now, and will be home
here this Friday for a month, then after that no one knows.
But they still support this 'illegal invasion' and always email me the ignorant 'talking' points
of the right wing, how the soldiers volunteered for the military, so I guess that is ok if they
get killed? Or more people die in traffic accidents then have been killed in Iraq???
:hi:

7. And did you know
that more Americans die because pharmacists can't read some doctor's scrawlings on prescriptions, so that justifys bush's lying us into a war and our kids continuing to die. I understand now.

6. You're a far better man than I am
I would find it awfully hard to resist telling this person that the only way this war has a chance of being won is if he sends his son to fight it (bonus points for saying God told you this while praying). And by withholding his son (would Abraham have refused to sacrifice Isaac?) the terrorists win, and America is in danger of toppling.

That would be for starters. A couple of beers and I'd really get going.
