So...What better COVER could Sheehan/Swanson/McGovern GIVEN Conyers than to Protest him Before Vote?
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 01:12 PM by KoKo01
Protesting CONYERS sure gives him an "Out" from the Repug Attack Machine when they say PARTISAN COMMITTEE CHAIR! The PARTISAN COMMITTEE CHAIR GOT PROTESTED BY ACTIVISTS DEMS (not counting that Cindy just switched Parties...but M$M still will consider her a Dem). So....for all the anger against the Jailed Activists...they might have done Conyers and that Committee a FAVOR...

Something to think about, anyway. Even if the protest was offensive to many...and it may not have been planned to give him cover...it might be a great unintended consequence that it takes away from Partisanship when your own folks start to protest you.

Watching the Conyers Hearing today on the Censure Vote, it was shocking to see Repug after Repug try to put amendments on this Contempt Vote and one after the other all they did was repeat: "Clinton Did It...Clinton Did It...he fired more US ATTORNEYS than anyone in history...He used Executive Privilege XXXX amount of times....Clinton, Clinton, Clinton yadda...yadda."

What Conyers and the Dems on that Committee had to put up with from these Repug Lawless Bushbots was almost ABUSE!

1. No it has wrecked everything.
Haven't you been paying attention? All is lost because of Sheehan. Now impeachment is off the table. Contempt is off the table. We've lost the Bullshit Media System. Sicko is being pulled from theaters. Will Pitt will never get his pony. It is a debacle of the first rank. Kittens are dying!

2. The honest truth is this: If Cindy wasn't a factor at all, it'd be better for the country
We shouldn't allow Cindy Sheehan to be a voice of more than protest. The fact she has such a swaying voice shows that the dems aren't working hard enough or fast enough. I said it before - I appreciate effort from ALL places to stop the demons in congress, so I think Conyers was the wrong target. That said, I think it says a lot that we have to base speculation on how much sway Cindy Sheehan had in the effects of politics.

and as a note, this isn't dem bashing. The only politicians we have right now are democrats, the other ones are stage props for dick fuhrer and puppet bush.

6. Many DU'ers lost faith in Conyers...and it's not without reason...We've been Left Out ..for Too Long
and so we get ANGRY and our feelings of Abandonment overwhelm us...and we STRIKE OUT. Then the DLC'ers come AT US...trying to Whip us into submission and we get more angry.

I'm always hoping that ACTIVISTS who have been through SO MUCH ACTIVISM: Fax/Phone/E-Mail/Show Up with Signs for the LATEST PROTEST MARCH/GET INVOLVED....will still HANG IN THERE..no matter HOW MUCH WE ARE TRASHED..

It's IMPORTANT..to have US...even if MOST HERE...DON'T LIKE US! :-( and call us to go to the MIDDLE OF DEM PARTY! WHERE is the MIDDLE these days?

9. I respect all protesters..
protesting is an integral part of Democracy. Even the freepers who get off their asses and protest garner my respect.

What I personally don't respect is gratuitous slamming smearing and trashing of good people.

11. I'm with you
I'm not at all against people going to conyers' office and voicing opinions. But I am against the crap that has been going around for a while now, talking aout how all of our reps are really working for the Republicans or big oil, they're all DLC shills, they're all secretly in the employ of Cheney, etc. That's just stupid whining.

10. One could look at it that way...as a Lefty...I guess, that I could, also..BUT!
If they want to "take it slow" and get ALL the DIRT OUT THERE...then it's a clever move (not good for us who've been working on this since Stolen Election 2000....but.. a way of GETTING AT THEM that might last longer than the more "DIRE MEASURES" that WE, OUT HERE...are advocating.

It's what they are doing...I might not agree but if it's what they are doing...then it's good to observe it and see if they are more successful than Daschle and the "Spineless" who followed him.

 Who know...but the Dems "SEEM" to be getting better. It's like telling Abused Folks that they should LEAVE THEIR ABUSER...or teaching "OLD DOGS...NEW TRICKS." We are stuck with them until we can get new folks in... So...we have to live with what we have ...AND there are some GOOD DEMS LEFT ...who GET IT! THEY are FIGHTING FOR US!
