What's the rush?
So the subpoenas are voted out of committee (on a party line vote of course) and will sit in limbo until after the August recess. After all what is the rush? There is no urgency here. It is not like it is a matter of life or death that this administration be brought to heal.

You got your nice pony to play with. I hope you all like it.

Me, I think Cindy has the right idea.

10. I don't favor blind obedience
I favor a rational respect based on a serious evaluation of their performance.

I don't find blind disdain any more admirable than blind obedience.

2. Whats the rush?
Each day he sits in that office he shits on the Constitution. Each day he sits in that office he forces our bravest deeper into a quagmire. Each day he sits in that office he comes closer to finding a context to attack another nation.

Thats why the rush.

Do you really think that if this was voted out today, that it would prevent any planned 'false flag' attack?

36. No, but it is part of a process.
We must turn public opinion, build outrage to the point that even Republican members of Congress know the gig is up.

The contempt charges are just one step in that process. It is part of the effort to keep the wrongdoings of the Bush administration on the front page and at the top of the news, every single day. Keep reminding people why Bush and company must go. Public opinion is changing, but people have short memories. I think it is foolish to delay and to allow the attention of the country to shift away from the crimes of the Bush administration.

Every day we allow the Bush administration to keep their stranglehold on Republicans in Congress, is one more day that the end to the occupation of Iraq is delayed and the resulting deaths of US soldiers continue. It is one more day that Bush signs executive orders, issues signing statements, spies on US citizens, takes away more of our civil liberties as part of his effort to amass more power.

in the Bush administration will not be taking the month of August off. They are fighting for their political lives. I don't think it a wise move to ease up the pressure and give them time to regroup and take the lead.

48. No
I have posted this over and over here. The evidence is there. When the American people see it, they will demand impeachment. But unless we have hearings, they won't see the evidence.

I also just posted this (I believe) in this thread:

Every 10 minutes, an Iraqi citizen dies.

Every 10 hours, a US soldier dies.

So no, we can't afford to let this sit for a month.

But I know how to change that.

I'll talk about how bad things are to people who already know.

I'll say it's about the constitution.

I'll cheer when others embarrass the idea of protest.

I'll join a protest so obnoxious and misguided that itll alienate the very people who can do what I'm asking for.

I'll have no plan more than twenty letters long.

I'll build no coalitions.

I'll attack anyone who wants the same thing but doesn't think any of the above is helpful.

I'll make absolutely sure my goal is doomed.

Mostly, though, I'll bang on a keyboard while simmering over pony jokes.
