Now this makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up
1,106 soldiers ordered back to recruiting duty

By Jim Tice - Staff writer
Posted : Tuesday Jul 24, 2007 18:17:59 EDT

The Army is immediately ordering 1,106 former recruiters back to that duty. The soldiers are being pulled from their current assignments and sent to recruiting stations across the nation as the army struggles to meet its mission in signing up 80,000 new soldiers this year.

The short-notice assignments are temporary — they begin Friday and will run no later than Oct. 15.

The names of soldiers detailed to these assignments can be accessed using an Army Knowledge Online username and password by clicking here.

Soldiers also will be notified of their assignments via an AKO message, and by garrison command and personnel officials.

It's only 20 per each of the 54 states and territories.

the recruiters that are already in place? Whatever you say.

recruiters already in the field. Not worth the argument, but if it was no big deal, why is it being reported on?

33. Because the bigger story is not the number of recruiters
but the recruiting shortfall.

The number of recruiters ALWAYS fluctuates with mission requirements.

Terror is being hyped, MSM is propagandizing about evil Iran, now this build-up. A "who-could-have-anticipated" tragedy could very well be in the works, and I'm afraid it's going to happen within the next couple of months.

DU puts a space in front of the last slash for some reason,
just type in the slash at the end of the url and it works.

37. To ALL parents of high schoolers!!! Follow the link in my post, print out 2 opt-out forms, 1 for the
school and one for the Pentagon and get them IN THE MAIL BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS! The recruiters will be at your child's school trying to harass them and get them to join the military. They will tell them ANYTHING they want to hear and promise them the world to get them to enlist. Send out the Opt-Out forms!

43. need some information please.....
I seem to remember a while back that NCOs were given a "choice" to become a recruiter, or a drill sargent, or serve time in Iraq. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me please.

45. Denied.
Usually NCOs in the grade of E-6 or E-7 are chosen to serve as recruiters between MTOE assignments. HRC identifies NCOs who are going to be leaving MTOE units for various reasons (most often than not to attend ANCOC or other schools) and then slots them to R&R for a two- or three-year stint as a recruiter or recruiting support person.

Not all NCOs become recruiters at any point in their careers. In fact, I would say that less than 1/3 of all NCOs spend any time in R&R.

As for choice, soldiers are always given a choice as to their next duty location on something euphemistically called a "wish list". However, the "needs of the Army" always supersede the desires of the soldier, so more often than not, the soldier is someplace they never wanted to be in the first place.
