Why would YOU embed wires in your cheese?
Why would anyone embed wires in cheese and take it on a plane? I'm thinking that IF it really happened the way the media are reporting it, the whole thing was just a really stupid and bad joke. But, regardless of the reason it was done, I'm not feeling threatened by it. Are you?

2. No, but I want to know who tried that, what their excuse was, and where
they are now. Just out of curiosity...or maybe to find out if this story is really true to begin with.

4. Well, there are those wire things that people use to cut cheese slices with.
Of course, those are mounted on a handle.

I really can't think of a legitimate reason for burying wires in cheese, though. Possibly someone trying to be too cute for their own good?

Happened in 1979 or thereabout. I wonder if it was an early terrorist dry run. :bounce:

35. Sorry. It was being discussed on MSNBC, a little while ago.
But here's a link to the news that preceded the discussion:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/hp/front/4996699.html

• Milwaukee, June 4. A U.S. person's carry-on baggage contained wire coil wrapped around a possible initiator, an electrical switch, batteries, three tubes and two blocks of cheese. The bulletin said block cheese has a consistency similar to some explosives.

Note that the article says nothing about actually finding wire embedded in cheese. Apparently, the story has now been "modified"--as if the facts weren't strange enough.

19. To bring it back to life of course, but first you must implant it with a recently deceased brain
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 02:33 PM by kenny blankenship
Airplanes are often struck by lightning while in flight. The revivification process requires instantaneously high voltages as well as high amperage, and the body of an airplane is conductive. Taking a wired up cheese, prepped with a brain for vivification, onboard a commercial flight is just good science and economy. It does not have to be a human brain. The brain of a dog or a Republican will work as well; but some choices, for example the brain of a mouse, lead to problems of longterm viability.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A University of Oklahoma student was released on $10,000 bail Thursday after appearing in federal court to be formally accused of a felony for allegedly bringing a small explosive device into Will Rogers World Airport.

Federal agents arrested Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr., 24, on Wednesday at a security checkpoint after a Transportation Security Administration employee noticed something suspicious in his carryon luggage as it went through an X-ray machine about 9:30 a.m., FBI spokesman Gary Johnson said.

The device was described in an FBI affidavit as a carbon dioxide cartridge filled with gunpowder that could be detonated when connected to a power source such as the batteries Dreyling had in his electric razor and in his cell phone, which were also in his carryon bag.

So basically, we are not hearing about this guy. We are hearing about cheese.

Something givesme the feeling that if this kid was "un-white", he would be in GITMO by now with his face plastered all over the news.

A very interesting observation, IanDB. I didn;t know about this until you mentioned it.

It was probably just one of those wire cheese cutters embedded in a block of cheese and it's being spun as something sinister.

actually the wine embedded in the cheese, so you won't have to give up your wine bottle to security when you board the plane.
