3. Idol worship
I really think they want a God to worship and * fills that bill. It says more about them than about *'s pathetic attempts to be a "leader." He would be a toothless, rich buffoon, but for his staff who insist upon playing minions instead of grown up professionals.

4. The important thing is not keeping...
...your prosperity. It's making sure that somenoe else is less prosperous than you.

The single most salient fact in American politics -- and we forget it at our peril -- is that there are somewhere between forty and seventy million Americans who would volunteer to live, with their families, in a cardboard box under a bridge, and eat sparrows toasted on an old curtain rod so long as someone promises them that the gay, or black, or foreign, or Muslim, or immigrant, or whatever, family in the next box over doesn't even get the sparrow.

Put more briefly -- a Republican is someone who can't drive by a treehouse without fantasizing about new and better ways to pull up the ladder.
