Should the Republican party be outlawed and members jailed? Edited |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 04:50 PM by Rosemary2205
What is the point of the current Republican party platform other than the treasonous goal of destroying American democracy, shredding any legal power of the US Constitution and destroying any ability of the different branches of the US Government to provide checks and balances?
Understand, I am not advocating a one party system. IMHO that would be disasterous. But there are several other parties in the US that could absorb the few non treasonous Republicans who's focus is mainly to advance fiscal conservatism, limited government and the legislative agenda to promote corporate interests. Even the "fundies" who's main goal is to advance "moral" laws can certainly be accomodated by a party who doesn't also represent the destruction of the United States Constitution. - Certainly the Democratic party itself has such a diversity of ideas (the big tent) that it could accomodate many Republicans through the DLC'ers.
Because of their continuous treason for more than 2 decades, it is my opinion the Republican party should itself be hammered with legal limitations until it is virtually worthless. It's leadership over the last 25 years plus any American still a registered Republican should be tried for treason and exiled or worse.
I understand this is not actually practical to do. It is likely legally and politically impossible. To be honest I am not normally given to such extreme fascist views. I have only recently begun to realize that without a total destruction of the that party and it's followers our entire democracy is at stake. Impeachment of Bush/Cheney won't make a dent.
EDIT!!!!!!!
Wow, I thought my rep around here was better and you guys would know this is pure :sarcasm: because I'm sick of hearing how anyone who doesn't mindlessly support Bush is a traitor.
Wow.

I rather win on ideas than resort to their tactics. We're on the right side of history (so to speak).Let's not ruin it by becoming them.

7. Maybe we should just set up re-education camps for them. |
|
Unless they're already filled with people who come up with zany ideas like this one.

9. I understand why you ask that |

They are a dangerous group.
But "Republican" is just a brand name. These types of scary people exist in every society, and if we "outlawed" them under one brand name, they'd just slink back in under another.
Better to just shed light all over them and expose them for what they are.

10. I think that people should be jailed only for their ACTIONS... |
|
not for their party membership. Otherwise one is going down a very undemocratic road.
I think that there are plenty of things for which Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and others deserve to be convicted and punished; but not just because they are Republicans.

Yes, lots of apologies, should have gone more by what I'd seen of your previous posts!!! The thing is that there have been genuine posts by DU-ers in the past recommending the same thing seriously.
I do find the right-wingers' attitude that all liberals or Bush-opponents are traitors or terrorists very scary and undemocratic and reminiscent of McCarthyism and worse.
