Let Michael Vick entertain his fans |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 04:54 PM by Wiregrass Willie
Whereas the Atlanta Falcon fans appear to want to keep Michael Vick no matter what crime he has committed and being that those same people love to see a lot of action at the football stadium, I propose a compromise.
In football there is an old tactic where the linemen attempt to rush in and cripple the quarterback. It's called "red dogging".
Under my compromise, Vick remains suspended from play but he will be permitted to dress in his tights and hangout along the Atlanta side of the field each Sunday. He will be allowed to initiate a new form of entertainment for his many fans. It will be called the Black Dog.
Each time the Falcons make a first down, Vick will do the Black Dog by jumping into the Falcon bleachers, grabbing any redneck he chooses and stomping the crap out of him. He will begin with the cheap seats, and work his way up to the sky boxes. In an average game, it's not unusual for the Falcons to make 20 to 30 first downs. His many redneck loyalists will surely get their money's worth.
How about the fans ? So they may get stomped a little -- so what ? It will be a lot more fun than sitting for hours watching a NASCAR race and praying somebody gets killed and nothing happening. There's too many disappointing evenings with car racing. Better a few sure ass whippings with Vick's Black Dogging the faithful. Anyway, anybody who supports a dog torturer is bound to enjoy an ass whipping -- even if it's his own.

... after the first game that the Falcons lose w/ Vick as QB, he's brought out to the 50 yard line, shot in the kneecaps, doused with water and electrocuted. Then several of "his dogs" can be let loose to ravage whatever is left of his corpse. All on national television.

bu can we save it for pay-per-view? It would probably pay off a good part of the national debt.

6. My solution: Let him stand trial and face the penalties. If he's innocent |
|
no punishment is necessary from the NFL. If he's guilty, he can't play from a federal prison.
I'm sure being in prison will give him a good taste of what the dogs go through. Not that it should be that way.

clearly much better to kill him before he stands trial. After all no person has ever been indicted and been not guilty of the crimes the state say he committed. He must die.

7. Try him, put him in prison, seize his assets. |

If any of these charges stick, he is done.

It would be nice to turn all of his assets (before lawyers) over to some organization to use for feeding a sheltering dogs.

|
... he's innocent until proven guilty. that's what democrats believe. We stand against stuff like what the government is doing at Guantanamo and in Charleston with Jose Padilla. The principle's the same - he has to be charged and tried as an American. If he's guilty he pays the price. You don't like that, go join the GOP.

25. I am not a court of law and my judgment will not result in deprivation of liberty. |
|
Therefore, I do not hold myself to the same standards, e.g., presumption of innocence, guilt beyond reasonable doubt. I love the Falcons and I live in Georgia...but Vick is out in my book.

17. How about this- he's innocent until proven guilty |
|
then, if a jury finds him guilty- he pays the price as laid out in the law.
Then he can return to football and play for whatever anyone's willing to pay him.
Nah. Can't have that... it'd be un-American.

So, when someone is accused of a crime, they may lose their job for a year until the case goes to court? That's inherently unfair.

It's also only the preseason, thus far.
Of course, Virginia is considering bringing charges now on the state level as well.

27. Yep- and if they can't raise bail, they sit in the can |
|
until their case is resolved. Hence the need for speedy trials.
This- along with over charging, leads some people to plea guilty to lesser crimes that they didn't commit, leaving the real perpetrator on the street (which makes it a law enforcement issue- as well as a travesty of civil rights).
Even so, they're generally not legally blackballed from their professions. Exceptions of course are for professions like law, where crimes of moral turpitude (like fraud) indicate that they're not fit to practice (because they're likely to steal from clients) or certain crimes committed by physicians, who literally hold people's lives in their hands. Obviously- a trucker with multiple DUI's will be blackballed- but a contractor will not be.
Now, playing professional sports- if you gamble on the game, that's one thing. If you assault someone that's another. Does dogfighting logically merit a lifetime ban? and if it does- what other things logically do?

28. I have a few thoughts |
|
Get John Edwards to file a civil suit against Vick from the dogs who are unable to speak for themselves. All the assets that Edwards gets in the trial can go toward the multitude of other animals who are tortured each and every day in the U.S.
Whether the law finds him guilty or not isn't necessarily the problem, it's public perception. And to be fair, Vick wasn't originally charged with any crimes when the D.A.'s office got the warrants and searched the property. Vick was indicted by the grand jury, which meant that there was some definite cause for concern and something not based on arbitrary, circumstantial evidence.
Things aren't always neat and organized when there is a case such as this. However, since the Bad Newz kennel had been doing this dogfighting and animal abuse for quite awhile, it is hardly likely that Vick was ignorant of it. If he HAD been innocent, he could have immediately reported everything to the police (which he did not), turned in his cousin and whoever else was organizing all the shit going down (which he did not), or did something to expose the shit even to the extent of remaining anonymous while doing so (which he did not). While here in the U.S. the civil right of being innocent until proven guilty doesn't seem to fit this situation because there is "dead bang" evidence to the contrary that says Vick was well aware of it all. If he can't be directly linked to the animal abuse on his own property, there is still enough of that evidence to get a firm conviction for aiding and abetting, which would surely put his football career on hold--too many people love dogs and other animals, and the barbaric nature of these crimes will fuel an emotional reaction that cannot be satisfied until he is punished, guilty or not.
ANYONE who harms innocent animals should be punished, regardless of who they are. Unlike a case of assault and battery or when someone is accused of rape or other sexual assault, when animals are tortured, there are few instances where the animal can actually testify against his or her assailant. We all need to keep that in mind and be the voices that DO speak out for animals.
