LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A homecoming parade planned Friday for an Army reserve unit was called off because no one ordered a bus for the soldiers to ride.

Plans for the parade to honor the Lafayette-based 209th Quartermaster Company fell apart Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm not sure what happened exactly," said Patti Frist, leader of the Army Reserve unit's family readiness support group. "Someone didn't cross their 'T's' and dot all their 'I's.' "

Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski said that no one had requested a bus from the city.

"How do you forget the bus?" asked Ralph Keegan, 66, who has hundreds of flags in the front yard of his Lafayette home to honor troops from Indiana.
