1. We're suffering through a drought here in Virginia
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 09:09 AM by Penndems
The ground is so parched. Just a little of that rain here would be nice. :)

2. They're going to start water restrictions in areas here in August
if we don't get a good rainfall.

5. We need a good, soaking rain in The Old Dominion
Our corn-growing farmers are losing their crops this year, and have declared an economic emergency.

It's terrible.

10. Where in VA? The one of summer 2002 in central VA
was awful. All food establishments used paper plates. Hair salons could not wash hair. I've never seen anything like that.

Hope its not that bad for y'all. :grouphug:

13. I'm in Northern Virginia and it was really bad in 2002, but not
as bad as you had it. I have well water, so it was pretty worrisome at the time. There are thunderstorms in the forecast nearly every single day, but we never get a drop!

7. Central NC definitely needs that rain. Bring it on!
I'll even take a little wind (not tooooo much) with it if necessary!

9. Dr. Jeff Masters has an entry in his blog about it
Thunderstorm activity has increased over the central Gulf of Mexico this morning, thanks to a tropical wave moving westward at 20-25 mph. Winds have increased to 20-25 mph at the Gulf of Mexico buoy 275 miles SSE of Sabine Pass, Texas, and pressures are falling. However, wind shear is 20 knots over the wave, and is expected to remain at least 20 knots over the next two days. This is probably too high to allow tropical development to occur.

14. I swore after a decade of drought down here I would never curse the rain again....
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 01:25 PM by MazeRat7
Now that Texas is Drought Free for the first time in a decade I'm finding it very very difficult to keep that promise....
