TSA: Recent airport terrorism alert is 'routine'

~snip~

Seizures of four unusual packages since September prompted the agency last Friday to tell airport security officials to watch for "ordinary items that look like improvised explosive device components." The memo, titled "Incidents at U.S. Airports May Suggest Possible Pre-Attack Probing," said the seizures "raise concern" that terrorists may be trying to "desensitize, distract or adapt plans" in advance of an attack.

Descriptions of the homemade packages, which included various combinations of wires, batteries, cell phone components, clay and cheese, leave little doubt that terrorists are testing the nation's airport security system, said Michael Greenberger, director of the Center for Health and Homeland Security at the University of Maryland.

~snip~

"The facts as described can lead to no other conclusion than that these are dry runs ... and yet we're told not to worry about it," Greenberger said.

~snip~

The strange contraptions were found in checked or carry-on luggage by airport screeners in San Diego, Milwaukee, Houston and Baltimore, the original TSA memo said. The owners of the items were not linked to terror organizations, but their explanations to investigators "were questionable," the memo said, adding that some of the investigations are ongoing.

Once again, it seems the Chicken Littles over at the Ministry of Vaterland Sekurity have sounded an alarm that would have been better left silent.

My post title was pure snark. The fact is, these *could* have been dry runs. More likely they weren't. But they could have been.

(Note, the source of these pictures is a hoot. ***But*** .... they were actually shown on Teevee, too)

But why do we now know about them? Real cops don't leak this sort of thing. Real secret agents and G-Men don't leak such things. Keystone Kops, however, might. Political types ABSOLUTELY would if it suits their purposes.

It is long past time top put the grown-ups back in charge of our government and most particularly, our national security. Someone could get hurt when allow the kids and the fear mongers and the delusional paranoids and the politically obsessed to watch over the safety of our citizens.

And no, you can't have my 3.1 oz of mouthwash, you crotch sniffing freak.
