20. Be Careful About Buying Right Now |
|
This housing mess gets uglier by the day. Soon, the summer buying season will be over and the numbers won't look pretty at all. Also, long term rates are still being reset, so look for another jolt.
If you buy now, buy quality and stability. Big cap and stable balance sheets. Stay away from the speculative growth stocks for now. A major credit crunch is approaching us and it will take down the weak.

34. Some Nuveen funds are looking pretty good |
|
right now with some of the new rates and are selling at a discount. There's another I just purchased but can't remember right now what it was called and have to get back to you. At this time, I'm looking for income instead of growth until individual stocks get to bargain levels or appear to be experiencing a blip on a higher long term trajectory. As far as income, I'm looking at ones paying out over 6%.

|
http://www.forbes.com/markets/2007/06/20/dearborn-nuveen-buy-markets-equity-cx_cg_0620markets51.htmlMight not mean anything, might mean a lot. Depends on how many of their managers stay or leave. Some of their funds are under review because of this by several of the major wire houses. I am curious which of their funds you are keen on.

14. Look at the dollar to euro ration - my dad told me this was the one to watch |
|
It was .7266 dollar to one euro last time I looked (right before posting). He follows this stuff super close because he has a lot of investments, & he told me that if it goes below 80 that is a huge red flag & could proceed a major crash. This is just what he told me, I am not in any way an expert on this stuff, myself. Thought I would pass it along.

22. And It's A Nasty, Oozing Bust. Imagine a Big Zit |
|
Unlike the tech bubble bust, which was also pretty nasty, that one was rather quick and decisive. The housing bust will be painful and take a long time to bust completely. First, it will start with the sub-prime mess. Then, new housing developments. Then, new home sales. Then, existing home sales. Then, more foreclosures. Finally, then a radical value re-adjustment downward for all homes across the board.
It's going to take a while, and it will be quite nasty.

26. Yeah, the trigger today seemed to be new housing starts |
|
but once we get back to an economy that creates domestic jobs and onshore products, we will be then be at the end of the old oil economy, and exurbia will not bounce back.
So even when the economy corrects in some far off future, it will not be business as usual for the housing industry.

You're hysterical. Because in order for that to happen, we need policy makers in Washington who actually will work on behalf of the people instead of taking bribes from lobbyists.
