Impeachment Fracas

As the western states burn and the eastern ones bake, the impeachment movement is really heating up. Abuse after abuse within the Bush administration is being uncovered and the public is nowhere near as susceptible to well-timed terrorism alerts. Outrage is finally beginning to replace complacency and fear.

With outrage comes action, and this past week a sit-in in PDA advisory board member Rep. John Conyers’ office led to the arrest of several dozen activists, among them PDA advisory board members, Cindy Sheehan, David Swanson, and Rev. Lennox Yearwood. In politics, even one’s closest allies don’t always see eye-to-eye and this is certainly one of those occasions.

While it’s unfortunate that progressives don’t agree on this issue, we must remain focused on our broader impeachment strategy. We cannot allow the forward momentum to be wasted over this fracas. We must continue pushing forward in a united effort to end the occupation of Iraq and protect our Constitution. Let’s deliver those co-sponsors to H Res 333 so Rep. Conyers can move forward on impeachment.
