September 11 seems to have been the corner turned. Not even the alleged war to bring democracy to the unwashed Iraqi masses has made the US more willing to welcome ones trying to escape the chaos resulting from a war of the US's making.

This is a crime.

2. Was probably the case then, but certainly now safe to say
that those who are allowed into the US are the richest of elites only. People who probably never really actually faced hardship and turmoil on the level of those currently in Iraq.
