New UPI poll: NO confidence in Bush as Commander-in-Chief
WASHINGTON, July 26 (UPI) -- The idea of U.S. President George Bush as commander in chief doesn't instill much confidence to respondents to a UPI-Zogby International poll.

Nearly half of those asked said that had no confidence at all in Bush's ability as commander in chief of the U.S. military.

Poll participants were asked their opinion of Bush as commander in chief on a 1-5 scale with 5 representing "complete confidence" and 1 standing for "no confidence at all." Some 47.8 percent of those asked gave "1" as an answer. Another 6.2 percent said "2" and 9.1 percent gave the neutral "3" response. While 18.1 percent said "5" -- complete confidence -- 17.9 percent said "4."

While the Democratic anti-Bush result was as expected -- with 87 percent saying "1" -- he received somewhat lukewarm responses from Republicans. Some 38 percent of GOP respondents said they had complete confidence in Bush's ability as commander in chief and 34.1 percent gave the "4" answer. Another 13.4 percent was neutral with 6.3 percent saying "2" and 7.1 percent of Republicans saying they had no confidence at all in Bush as commander in chief.

The Zogby interactive poll of 7,562 U.S. residents was carried out July 13-16 and has a margin of error of 1.1 percentage points.

4. Too bad we can't divide the country up, give 40% of it to those who feel safe under Bush,
close the borders and allow no illegal immigration of Republicans into our country, where we will, a) ban Bushite-controlled, "trade secret" vote counting, b) elect a real President and Commander in Chief, and c) restore the Constitution, the rule of law, and progressive policy.

Really, I've had it with Republicans. I never was one, but I never thought of them as traitors, until, oh...round about the Reagan era--and then it was more lawbreakers and death squad funders (the war on Nicaragua), and the re-write of the tax code to favor the rich (end of the progressive tax), that I opposed. I did think "traitors" when it was revealed--to those of us who don't depend on the war profiteering corporate news monopolies for information--that the Reaganites negotiated with the Iranian hostage-takers to hold onto the hostages until after the Carter-Reagan election. Dirtbags. But now I'm thinking that Republicans are not just traitors, they are out and out nuts, they are a real danger, and they deserve to be banned.

Can you imagine ANYBODY trusting Bush as "commander in chief," at this point? It boggles the mind. I just hope to God some insider patriots are keeping an eye on things.

Then I started thinking, goddamit, I may DIE with these people, if and when Bush/Cheney make their next murderous move. These people--this staggeringly stupid 40%--who can't tell the difference between a "commander in chief" and a donut, are endangering us all. They ought to be treated like felons, and denied voting rights. They are "enemy combatants." They are alien subversives. They don't belong here. They are not Americans. There are millions of people around the world who would make better, smarter, more loyal American citizens than this lot of unconscionable greedbags and mental defects.

What's to be done with them? Re-education camps? They are not a political party. They are a JUNTA, with a bunch of lamebrained toadies who think Bush is a good "commander in chief." Okay, okay, say they're stupid enough to buy into his "conservative" politics, even if it is a lying, hypocritical bunch of crap, and most of them are just being fleeced along with the rest of us. They have a "different" political outlook than the rest of us. We can live with political difference. But...can we live--and I mean WILL we live, will we survive--with that big a chunk of stupid in our gene pool, people who are still saluting President Codpiece?

Do that many Americans have Defense industry jobs in the family? Is that it? At least that I could understand. Bush is good for lots and lots of bombs and tanks. 40%? Dunno. It's baffling. And I just want to put them in a country of their own, and LET THEM take on the risks to national security that Bush/Cheney have created. It's not fair that the rest of us have to.

6. I wanna know what kind of drugs republicans are on.
That's some strong stuff to make one think that Junior has any leadership ability.

My God, how did we let this malicious creep become President?

It is an indictment of our society.
