'Dark Cloud' Lifted From Pou, Attorney Says
Grand Jury Declines To Indict Doctor In Hospital Deaths

NEW ORLEANS -- Fighting back tears, Anna Pou, the doctor accused of killing patients in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, thanked her supporters Tuesday afternoon, just hours after learning that an Orleans Parish grand jury declined to indict her in the case.

Pou said "the last 23 months have been very painful" for herself, the two nurses and the families of people who died at Memorial Medical Center after the storm.

"All of us have to remember the magnitude of human suffering that occurred in the city of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina," she said.

The doctor made it clear she'd like to return to work as soon as possible. But Pou also noted that the Memorial case could lead physicians to be less inclined to stay behind and help patients should another storm hit the region.

1. Dr Pou and her nurses can tend to my family anytime
I think the prosecutor was out of line and the Doctor is right. If there is another similar catastrophe, the medical professionals may just say fuck it and leave.

5. I agree my friend
but I was referring to Foti. He filed the charges and handed off to the incompetent buffoon jordan to carry out his wishes. One of my favorite bartenders in the Quarter and I always try to figure out who the most incompetent elected official in New Orleans is. jordan is always right up there near the head of the pack.

2. Now, they should turn around and go after that inept SOB Eddie Jordan
Piece of shit!

He's as bad or worse than disgraced former district attorney Mike Nifong (Duke lacrosse players case).

7. SwampRat you are absolutely right, but
if you are in agreement that the Doctor should not have been prosecuted you might want to shy away from this case relative to Jordan's incompetence. He was correct in his workings of this case (if you agree the Doctor should not have been put in this position.)

9. Sorry
Just hearing his name makes my skin crawl... like red ants biting and feeding me anger.

I cannot be objective about him after all that he has (not) done. x(

10. One of these afternoons
you and I need to meet in the Quarter and have a beer or two (or whatever floats your boat.) Maybe we can toast the end of the Jordan regime which I believe will come to an end soon.

8. I am curious my Friend
Do you think the grand jury did the right thing in not charging Dr Pou?

11. Well, in this case Jordan...
It's hard to muster any support for this asshole, but he also said the grand jury did the right thing, and so do I.

Forensic pathologists concluded that a homicide had been committed, so I guess it depends on whether one agrees with "mercy killing." She gave the patients Midazolam hydrochloride (sp?) even though resuscitative equipment was not functioning... though, I do not know this for a fact and neither does anyone else except for those with intimate knowledge of the case.

Foti is the REAL bastard in this case, but I cannot stand Jordan either. Both are incompetent and corrupt, as well as Nagin.

3. stupid-ass foti wants to hound her to her grave
he's still spewing claims that have already been repudiated by both the grand jury and anybody with a brain

how would he like to be in 110 degree heat, trapped for days, seriously ill and in pain, and the next doctor will be afraid to offer any pain or anxiety medicine lest she be second guessed by fucktards who were nowhere to be found during the actual catastrophe

it seems sometimes like there is a movement out there determined to make sure that we all die in terrible fear and pain, and any doctor who tries to provide any relief from pain, if it isn't a shithead like foti after them, well, then, there's always the dea to persecute them for over prescribing

what a world! why can't doctors do their jobs w.out politicians sticking their nose in to be sure that we suffer enough?
