you get caught..

should you "just resign"?

Would ANY law enforcement agency allow that?

Even Mayberry PD would toss you in the clink until they got a high-falutin' prosecutor , who would attempt to throw you into PRISON..

Government has become a fantasyland of "king's X", fingers crossed behind backs, and alcohol-excused lapses of judgement.

EVERY businessplace in the country has consequences for the "wrong-doers", and I want MY government to start PUNISHING the liars, cheats & scumbags.

Is that really too much to ask? ..especially in a city with probably more lawyers per capita than anywhere else in the country.

All I want is for laws to be written plainly and then enforced equally.......for EVERYONE.

I am so tired of seeing people (of ALL parties) scamming and stealing & lying & cheating...and then just ..poof! resigning. They keep the fruits of their scams, and end up as even higher-paid consultants or lobbyists, and never "pay the piper".

A few manage to be so stupid (Cunningham comes to mind) that they do eventually get their come-uppance, but most just resign and go their merry way...only to resurface time and again, when the dust settles.

3. Laws are for you and me and we.
Not for the political/military/corporate elite. Laws are not for the well connected unless the crime reaches far beyond them and they fall on their sword for the greater good of the ruling class.

There is no such thing as "everyone". There is the great unwashed and the elite. When we scream of hunger or illness, they scream "class war"!

That is why Socialist Democracies are so hated... hatred even beyond that of communism, facism, dictatorships and theocracies. When you educate, heal, feed, give hope and equality under the law to the people, you lose control over the people.

7. Sing the Gospel, Katsy!
We're already in a class war, and the casualties are piling up on our side of the field while the other side claims WE'RE the ones with the bloody swords.

What a world...:argh:

6. It's Called Knowing Where the Bodies are Buried.
You don't get to a position of power in Washington without knowing many things about others that would cause trouble for them. When the shit goes down, you can trust those people to "do right by you", since you've got the dirt on them. We just saw it in action with the Scooter Libby commutation. Only when the cost of supporting someone becomes greater than the harm the secrets they know can do, will a politician give up an "ally".

8. If it gets tough, you still have two options:
a) rehab for your out of control (fill in the blank) addiction

b) be born again.

9. Poor William Jefferson. He's the only one who really served time.

But then again, he's black. I'm telling you, by the time the Bush Administration comes to an end, the case for Affirmative Action should be apparent to everyone in this country.
