Did you know that Congress can over turn executive orders? We have thirty days to contact senators and congressmen to over turn *'s latest edict which virtually allows the seizure of all that you own if in the administration's eyes you are impeding the war effort! The form following the article will send your comment to your two senators and congressman and there's a place to enter e-mail addresses of like minded people. I did not realize that executive orders become law if not acted upon in 60 days! That's what the article says, so...........

1. Not for impeding...
for the risk of doing violence...which could mean...well, you gave them a dirty look. :)

8. If they suspect that you might know someone... who might know someone...
who might give a hint....

it's the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Degrees_of_Kevin_Bacon">Kevin Bacon game of national security policy

(They will use it exactly like they use six-degrees-of-separation-theory to shield anyone by claiming executive privilege, whether they ever met with anyone in the president's administration or not.)

4. Well, I couldn't quite believe my eyes either....is that how you
read it? I re-read it and still came up with this wonderful conclusion! I had no idea executive orders could be over turned although I have thought it odd they didn't seem to be subject to checks and balances.

5. Here's part of the article:
"In other words, if the Secretary of the Treasury says that you “pose a significant risk” of committing an act of violence with the purpose or effect of “threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq; or undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people”, then the 'bushprez' can block you from accessing your bank account, retirement account, credit cards, or “any property or interest in property” that you may own.

That technically includes your house, whether owned or rented, your car or other means of transportation, whether owned or rented, your business, all the way down to your cell phone, toothpaste and underwear, as well as the twenty bucks you loaned your buddy that he hasn’t paid you back yet.

What is there to keep the Secretary of the Treasury from “determining” that you, because you oppose the war in Iraq, are probably one of those extremist hooligans who protested the WTO in Seattle a few years back, or that you are likely to act like one of them even though you haven’t even participated in those riots? War protesters do these things, don’t they? They are all the same, aren’t they?

7. good idea
Someone is going to have to start burning all these executive orders as they leave Dubya's desk, or someone has got to take his pen away.

It was easy enough for him to do these things BEFORE he announced it this way. Now he's just rubbing it in.
