I'm diggin' climate change so far... |
|
Here in N. Texas, we have only reached 100° a couple times about 6 weeks ago. Been running in the high 80s most of the time. It's rained like hell this spring and summer and all the streams, rivers and lakes are full to the brim. And, in the past couple of days S. Texas has flooded yet again for the second time in a month. An Amtrak even got stuck. B
And right now at this very moment it's 74° -- and it's about to rain again. Normally it would be 100°s;+ this time of year. But, all-in-all, it's been quite a pleasant summer. We're even able to sit out on the porch anytime during the day and have coffee or tea without melting away to temporarily puddle up in the dead flower bed, soaking into the dry caked soil only to them be...ahem...uh...anyway..
As good as we have it so far with climate change, other places are getting hit hard. The West is burning and desertification is spreading. Arctic and Greenland ice is melting. Hurricanes south of the equator. Amazon drying up. One million dispaced in the UK from flooding. People dying from record high temperatures in Romania and southern Europe. Disease and famine in Africa.
Yeeeepppp...yep, yep, yep. We're very fortunate here in N. Texas. At least for now.

Over 16 inches below normal rainfall, the corn crop will be affected severly in our area. No sign of it letting up either. We need rain.

5. The heat is killing me. The summers are hotter and hotter |
|
and we never get snow anymore. You can't even wear a sweater in winter unless you wear something presentable under it because chances are that sweater will be coming off during the day.

6. Just commented today of what a great summer it has been in Pa. |
|
Jerry Farewell said that Dover Pa would suffer Gods' wrath for not teaching creationism in their schools, but seems to me if God has a bone to pick with anyone it's southern Texas and the "red" states. But who am I to say?

7. So, how did you like climate change last year...... |
|
drought, wild fires, searing tempatures..... I think this is just a slight reprieve from what's going to happen in the future. Since I live in Oklahoma and we are experiencing the same type of weather, we might as well it while we can.
