Just before Lindsay Lohan was arrested early Tuesday morning, she commandeered a car and took three men hostage -- this, according to the three men who were in the car with her.

TMZ interviewed all three, and here's the lowdown: Rewind to Monday afternoon. Dante Nigro, Jakon Sutter and Ronnie Blake drove to Malibu with the boyfriend of Lindsay Lohan's assistant. Lindsay and her assistant ran into Dante and friends. Later, the assistant text-messaged Dante, saying Lindsay wanted to invite him to a Malibu party that night.

Dante says they were going 100 MPH. They say Lindsay caught up with the assistant and began doing circles on PCH, around the assistant's car.

They say at one point, Lindsay boasted, "I can't get in trouble. I'm a celebrity. I can do whatever the f**k I want."

The two cars stopped in a parking lot near the cop shop. When police arrived, Dante says it seemed as if Lindsay told officers, "I wasn't driving. The black kid was driving."

13. The sad truth -- I'm sorry to say -- is because...

...they know other white people will believe it without a second thought.

As a lifetime resident of white suburbia I can tell you, from personal observation and conversations, that whites (of all political stripes, religious persuasions and philosophical leanings) have not, over the past two decades, advanced more than a baby-step or two in the struggle against bigotry.

Even the ones who vote Dem and hate what the Bush administration has done ... even the ones who blast hip-hop from their car stereos ... 19 out of 20, in private conversation, white-to-white: it's the same old prejudices, I guess passed down from the previous generation.

The sad truth is she's right. The rich can do whatever the fuck they want.

She'll go back to "rehab" and the trial judge will look on that as her willing to make reforms. She'll get thirty days at most and then be released with little effect on her life. She'll do a little charity work for show, say the necessary lip service about contrition, and the media will tell us that we've forgiven her. Even if they threw the book at her, after she served her jail time she could never work a day for the rest of her life and still live a better lifestyle than 99% of us on here will ever live.

If she were a poor girl caught driving while intoxicated with the same net weight in crack her life would be ruined. More than likely her car would be seized and sold at a sheriffs sale. She wouldn't be able to go to rehab because she wouldn't be able to afford it. She'd get a court appointed attorney that wouldn't even spend two minutes on a defense. Her jail time (if not prison) would be three or more times longer because she had crack (instead of the rich person's cocaine). She'd lose whatever job she had and lose her house/apartment because she can't pay. When she was released from jail she would have a VERY hard time finding gainful employment because of the drug conviction. She wouldn't be able to live in public housing because of drug conviction, and in many state she wouldn't be eligible for public services. She'd be a desperate girl on the streets furthering the cycle.

The system is so stacked against the poor it is a joke to call it "justice".
