Republicans simply DO NOT LISTEN...caller on WSJ about the cheese
You see, THIS is the problem with the complicit media, and this caller is illustrative of WHY BushCo trumps up the fear; it works. The caller knew all about the dry-run fake explosive devices smuggled aboard the airplanes, but that was all he knew. He admitted to be very afraid. But he didn't have a clue about any of the "nexus of terror" stuff as demonstrated by KO, and the debunking of much of the cheese-bomb stories.

The Republicans (and sadly, I admit, probably many Americans, too) read ONLY headlines. They grab the sound bite and run with it, never looking back to check veracity or try to substantiate what they've read/heard. This is why BushCo's fearmongers continues to work. Contrary to Ditech's commercials, people are not smart. At least, not when they have an (R) next to their name.

1. And when they lie or "fudge" the reports
it is not published soon enough or broadly enough to make a difference.

Sometimes I really can't believe there are so many people who can't think and read to know what we seem to know here. Are we really that smart or are they just so dumb?

2. Irrational Fear of Cheese
I think we've pinpointed the crux of all republican neurosis.

9. I guess R's never saw the I Love Lucy episode where she smuggles a cheese on a Trans-Atlantic flight
disguised as a baby.

5. Oh No...Don't Take My Cheese Whiz!!!
I knew the stuff was lethal...but, oh well...i suspect now we'll have TSA agents with specially trained cheese-sniffing mice that were trained by an outsourced contractor and surely will cost millions to learn how to smell which cheese explodes and which is just curdling. I sure can't wait for grandma to get strip searched caused they smelled cheese on her breath...damn terrerist! :sarcasm:

So lemme get my checklist straight. I can't bring on bottle water, still...cause that may explode () and i still must take off my shoes before I get screened...because we know how many shoe bombs have taken down airliners...and then have my baggage rummaged through cause I might have some cheeze (or leaked Ice pack) in there. In the meantime, a local news report recently showed how easily a "terrirst" with a hand-held missile could easily take down a jetliner without stepping foot on airport property...hiding in some nearby woods.

But as long as people remained scared shit, it's the only thing this regime has left to rally people. Play to their greatest fears and demonize all as "with us" or "against us"...it's a 7-year old's view of the world.

7. You heard correctly. Of course, not on the actual national news.
So the myth perpetuates and the guppies eat it up.

8. correct...
plus they belonged to a 66 yr old woman who was detained for 3 hours - she had them for her arthritis.

And the other cheeses were not wired... they were near or on top of cell phone or computer charging devices which made it appear differently on the xray machines.

Another case of fear mongering!

10. sounds to me like that would be very encouraging -
that the equipment IS picking up objects that give the appearance - meaning that bombs are NOT going to be smuggled onto planes like that.

But FEAR plays so much better than success.

12. The MSM broadcasts the hype loud and clear, but not the corrections
The "might be's" and "could be's" and "sources saying's" etc. are all LOUDLY propagated.

Then the actually FACTS are put out very quietly, if at all.

It's no wonder people don't get it.
