Bush administration can dish out the subpoenas but they can't take them

Michael Moore says he's been served

BURBANK, Calif., July 26 (UPI) — Michael Thursday said the Bush administration has served him with a subpoena regarding his trip to Cuba during the making of his new film, Sicko.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker, who appeared Thursday on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, said he was notified about the subpoena at the network's studios in Burbank, Calif.

I haven't even told my own family yet, Moore said. I was just informed when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a subpoena for me.

1. He should claim he met his lawyer in cuba, thus his trip is priviledged information.

3. That was predictable
We'll have to see what comes of it; I don't know that the Bush administration can take too much blowback, they may back down.

But then again they might be playing to their base.

5. Doctor/patient privilege?
There must be some sort of privilege he can claim.

I know he has said before that it was a journalistic enterprise, many others have gone there for journalistic purposes and that is allowed. Of course the Bush regime has decided that he engaged in "commerce". My question (having not seen the movie yet, don't shoot me, I couldn't find anyone to go with) -- did Moore or any of the folks with him, pay for any of the treatment they received? Because if they did not, then it would not qualify as commerce IMO.
