Let Me Cut Straight Through A Lot Of Bullshit Here
The double talk the White House is putting out to cover Gonzo's lieing ass is just a diversion. Basically they are confirming a second program of some sort that is far to classified to disclose but who's very existence makes Gonzo into an honest man. That is not the point though.

No matter how many programs there were, and what sort of clever language is used to establish different subsets of this program or that one thing remains unchallenged. There was only one program to be approved that night in the hospital room. It is that one program that is being discussed. Whatever name is given to it and whatever subset of total intelligence activities it may have been is of no importance at all. Gonzo said there was no complaint about the program that was put in place. The program that was put in place was the one that was not signed off on. The program that was put in place was the one described in the papers that Comey refused to sign - but that he testified was put in place anyway. It is that program what was the subject of Schumer's questioning. It is that one program that caused the threatened resignation of the top of the Department of Justice but that Gonzo said was unopposed.

1. When the dust settles during martial law, it will be revealed that
Gonzo didn't lie. He was unaware of what he was saying in court due to an alcohol problem for which he will be getting treatment at Betty Ford's.

They'll all pull the Rehab Card.

Just speculating.

it's all they have left after the blatant lies don't work anymore.

3. Tony Snow is one lying son of a bitch. The bullshit he spewed
a few minutes ago was totally absurd. Essentially, it was "there secret information we can't tell you that shows Gonzo didn't lie, but if we told you what it was, we'd have to shoot you, so shut the fuck up."

5. He's the Ron Zeigler of his day. I'm waiting for the moment when he comes up with a phrase akin to
"That statement is NO LONGER OPERATIVE."

That was how Ron indicated that someone told him to march out there and lie!

4. That's exactly it, Thom...
and that is the bullshit that Snow was spewing last night, and I imagine today, that there are many different programs out there and they can't be discussed publicly, so it can't be assumed that Gonzo is lying, he just can't talk about national security issues in a public forum...:eyes:

What utter bullshit, and Mueller clearly confirmed it last night, I don't care what they're saying about it today. Sheila Jackson-Lee gets props for asking absolutely awesome questions.

7. Tony Snow's purpose seems to confuse the American public.
I've been following this story and his responses to the reporters' questions make no sense to me. I guess for people not paying close attention, they probably throw their hands up in frustration and change the channel.

9. That seems to be the point. I thought the press was very clear and concise--
and for once, getting to the heart of the matter.

Tony Snow was tap-dancing today--and none too well.

11. you beat me to it
tony trying to appear affable and cooperative - I fully expected him to use that old joke 'If I tell you I'll have to kill you"

to make it seem like its apples and oranges; muddy up what is/is not the TSP

as you state - WHATEVER was being pushed to be renewed was clearly under controversy. Gonzo said there was "never any controversy over the program the pres disclosed" in a clear effort to obfuscate and deceive, or at least not disclose what he knew full well they were looking for but didn't know enough to phrase the question perfectly. That is not "full cooperation." Had he said "I can tell you more in private session" that would have conveyed openness. Instead he conveyed bobbing and weaving. To assert that he is unassailable and they should just shut up and tend to passing funding bills is arrogance beyond compare.

13. There seems to be two programs to me. Just look at the dates.
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 12:37 PM by leftupnorth
Gonzo was briefing Senators about one program on the eve of the expiration of the authorization, May 17. Comey was in Ashcroft's hospital room March 10, the day before the program authorization was to expire. The March 11 program is renewed every 6 months, or on 9/11 and 3/11. The May 18 program is, most likely re-authorized every 6 months as well, but I'm not sure.

There is the May 18 program and the March 11 program. Two programs. At least it appears that way.

15. Yesterday's reporting seems to say otherwise
And please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Rockefeller and others come out almost immediately and say they had been briefed the day before the hospital visit and didn't Gonzo in fact imply at first that he had been sent to the hospital at the direction of Congress rather than the President? Also, and this is coming from my foggy memory but didn't Bush himself say, in one of his addresses to the nation if I remember correctly, that the program was renewed every 90 days?

I'd be pleased to be corrected - my memory is not great.

14. Bush Excuses - Its ok to "out" Plame, but can't reveal a program spying on US
That excuse isn't going to hold water. Of course Tweety, Faux and the MSM will buy it.

16. Answer this please!!
If they had a secret program to monitor telephones, internet, and anything else for suspected terrorist, then why did they have to have another program. This secret program is bull.

The only program they had that is secret is one that monitored Democrats for any information they could get to try to counteract Democrats actions. AND THAT IS THE TRUTH. Not all this gonzales bullcrap.

17. Good point...
...and also, from what they're saying now, there must be another, supersecret program that even Congress doesn't know about... so let's find out more about that, shall we?

Not to mention: if there is indeed another, supersecret program that cannot be discussed in public session -- then why didn't Gonzales say so, and request a closed-door session? Because (a) he's lying; and (b) he doesn't want to answer anymore questions anyway!
