As far as I'm concerned
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 01:42 PM by supernova
Birth control, all forms of it, including Depo Provera, BCP and Plan B, should be available in any public restroom in America. That includes all rest stops along our highways, every -- hell especially -- every bar and restaurant, theater, concert venue, even the snooty ones with attendants, libraries and other government and public buildings, stadiums.

It would be so much better to fill up those bathroom vending machines with birth control products rather than that god awful "perfume," and stupid toys. Even if I got attacked, heaven forbid, I could at least tell my attacker to drag me over to the machine and get a damn condom.

This would permanently solve the problem of pharmacists who want to control other peoples' sex lives.

edit: spelling

1. I have always believed in making birth control methods...
such as "Depo Provera, BCP and Plan B" as well as condoms readily available.
They all help to avoid unwanted births.

2. It's a nobrainer for me
but I never cease to be amazed that other people don't have better faith in their fellow female humans anyway.

Thanks for your support AX10.

4. Freakonomics is a wild book.
One of the correlations that is drawn is the mysterious early 1990's drop in crime and the legalization of abortion in 1973.
The theory goes that there was a decline in unwanted children, poor parenting, and a later drop in crime.
Should those who can't/won't care for a child be forced to carry to term? HELL NO!
Freely available contraception and on-demand abortion are what's best for us and our society.
The repukes need to stay out of everyones pants.

6. I agree with that assessment
less throw away children to grow up to become abusive adults with nothing left to lose and no one to care about.

7. I've been preaching this since the 'sixties. If a baby can't be given a good home nine months from
this particular intercourse, then condoms or Plan-B or early-as-possible abortion are indicated, imo, and should be readily available everywhere. No man* should have any say in the fate of any pregnancy or possible pregnancy unless he plans to raise or adopt the child.

I see little social gain in forcing yet another unwanted child into this world. If Republicans could learn to see more than ten minutes ahead (i.e. our grandchildren paying the war debt, our great-grandchildren never seeing a snowfall, etc.) they would understand that easily-available birth control and early-as-possible abortion would prevent a lot of crime and social costs 18 years later. (Plus preventing a lot of suffering for a LOT of people, but most of all the unplanned baby/child.)

What do Republicans expect when unwanted babies grow up and become unsocialized adults? But no, we get the "o he might be an Einstein" argument against abortion. Not if he's mentally slowed by neglect and malnutrition, no, no Einstein there.
=======================
*including the men in long black robes who sit at high benches.

Birth control should be everywhere, available to everybody, and the pharmacists and doctors who are against it don't have to use it.

8. Thank you for all your hard work
over the years. :-)

I was a wee one in the 60s... but I grew up to march in the 80s and 90s and now 00s.

And I will add it's yet another reason Europe has a much better lifestyle than we do.

9. Isn't there some reason that you need a prescription for these?
Would doctors allow them to be sold "OTC"?
