Stephen Colbert breaks wrist on set

NEW YORK - Stephen Colbert's disdain for all things left is growing.

The host of "The Colbert Report" revealed on Thursday night's show that he broke his left wrist while running around the New York studio before taping a recent episode. Colbert removed a large "No. 1" foam hand to unmask a small cast.

"I didn't want to draw attention to it. I didn't want to play on your sympathy," Colbert said before dramatically grimacing.

The fall happened June 27, before the show went on a two-week hiatus, a spokesman for Comedy Central said Friday. Colbert, 43, was only recently fitted with a cast.

"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how it happened," the mock right-wing talk-show host told his audience. "My director Jimmy is suggesting I might have broken my wrist ... before the show."

1. Too Cool! I believe "the man" who is known as Stephen Cobert is kind hearted,
although his character is "a right wing meatball." ;)

10. Well, I know for a fact he is.
He knows the name of everyone who works for the Colbert Report and makes sure he talks to all of them. A friend works for the show. He got a brain tumor. It necessitated a lot of treatment and a lot of time off. And then easing back into work slowly. With the blessing and helpfulness of everyone there.

Colbert takes care of his people.

7. That's right!
I guess that would make Bush his Baldrick.

Excellent.

Although I can't stomach Snow long enough to make a validation of your comparison. :)

4. and here I thought it was a gag
..... that means he did the whole show with a broken wrist -- wish I had saved it on DVR.

How in the world did he get Snow to do this bit? It either speaks better of Snow than I would have thought or even slyer and better of Cobert than I had thought.

I go with the latter.

Look forward to tonight's show.

Grey Overnight is what the Bush Administration will do to your hair. I feel bad for Tony. I hope he will be okay after all this is over.

17. There seems to be a run on broken bones among media pundits lately.
Keith Olbermann is probably just about recovered now from the stress fracture in his foot that he got in May. And I read that Nancy Grace has broken a foot too. Not that I have any great love for her but I do have to sympathize with a woman for having a broken foot while pregnant with twins.

It's funny, I think a lot of people who are not happy about how Tony Snow lies like a rug for a living like him as a person. Keith talks baseball with him in email all the time, he says.
