cynthia mckinney slammed but shays only hand-slapped

so christopher shays, republican, screams swearwords at capital police and reaches for the cops nametag and all he has to do is apologize. do you see this all over the press? they made cynthia mckinney look like a nominee for the nut ward for less than this and put it in every newspaper in america but when a white republican man does worse than mckinney all he gets is a tap on the hand.

Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.) apologized Friday for an altercation with a Capitol Police officer Thursday afternoon in which the lawmaker repeatedly swore at an officer and touched his nametag to read it before storming away.....According to sources familiar with the event, the outburst began after Officer Randy Cooper informed a staff member that he could not bring a tour through a lower west front door that has restricted access.

One source said that after Cooper informed the staffer that the family could not enter through the door, the staffer called Shays and tried to have the officer speak with him. When the officer refused, Shays himself came down to the post and proceeded to “scream obscenities” at Cooper before touching his nametag to read it in the rain and storming away.....The officer and the Capitol Police could not be reached for comment.

Shays just did it right away instead of starting a battle first.

8. Obviously He's An Asshole, But There Were Some Stark Differences Between The Two.

From what you have above, shays didn't really break the law; though touching the nametag probably would've gotten most others thrown to the ground. He didn't assault the officer nor go on a weeks long publicity spree every opportunity he could screaming out irrational premises and digging his hole even deeper, while casting further unfair attacks on the officer. He didn't embarrass himself further nor turn it into a huge public spectacle. He also immediately apologized.

So though it absolutely makes him look like an unstable asshole (which he is, of course), you can't really compare the two since the situations were no where near the same.
