I thought * was "The Decider." So much for that.

In a discussion with a right-winger earlier, I was told that if the US pulls out of Iraq there would be genocide and we would be inviting Iran to invade Iraq. I was asked, "How would YOU deal with that?"

This is the main talking-point of the war enthusiasts who have run out of arguments.

My answer: "Your side has been wrong about EVERYTHING on this war since Day One. Why should I believe your predictions this time?"

The war enthusiasts have absolutely zero credibility on this issue.

1. That is the best answer, every time.
Who's predicting this so-called "worse situation"?

End of discussion. MKJ

3. I think I have a plan.
What we're going to do is have all the troops pull back to the Baghdad Airport, right? Get in position to leave, then some bombers will fly over and drop some of the world's largest smoke bombs between the troops and any enemies/insurgents/spectators. Then, when the smoke clears, the troops and all the equipment will have disappeared from sight, gone as if into another dimension!

Yeah, it's not realistic. But I loves me a good magic show.

10. He's a Republican? Really?
I didn't know that. I wonder if my regular magician, Presto the Prestidigitator, knows anything about that.

He did mention something about being anti-gun control last week, but he was making balloon animals at the time.

4. Well, either that or follow Bus's exit strategy for our troops which
...is body bags and coffins or on stretchers, gurneys and wheel chairs. He sure has no intention of bringing our troops out of Iraq whole!

7. Ask them what the benefit of staying in is.
They will, of course, say, "We can win."

Then say, "Win what?"

They'll say, "The war."

"Against whom?"

"The terrorists." or "The insurgents."

"Then what?"

"Then {insert rosy scenario here}."

"Wasn't that supposed to be what happened four years ago? You had your shot, you blew it. Get the troops out, blood's on your hands."

9. So its up to
those who know what a disaster this occupation has been and want it ended to figure out how to withdraw? Fact is there will be no easy way out and as far as Iran is concerned I doubt they would invade, more likely Iran and Iraq would become Allies. Genocide, I doubt that also, it may be a little tough initially but I believe the Iraqi people will drive out al-Qaeda and any other foreign insurgents that haven't left on their own. That's opinion and speculation on my part and I could be completely wrong, thankfully we have much smarter and more knowledgeable Democratic people already elected along with many experts poised to deal with that when the next Democratic President takes office.

12. My standard reply is very close to yours:
"We might not know the right way to go but ya'll have shown that ya'll certainly don't and now we're lost...it's our turn to drive."
