Baby Sitter Charged With Pimping Girl

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) - A baby sitter accused of allowing a man to have sex with a 12-year-old girl in her care for money was charged with pimping, police said.

Amber Salts, 20, took the girl to the home of a 48-year-old man she had been "romantically involved" with and allowed the girl to have sex with him, said Madison County sheriff's Sgt. Mike Dixon.

Larry Westwood paid the girl $140, which she split with Salts, police said.

Salts was charged Friday with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and pimping. Westwood was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.

That's f*cked up. If you can't trust your friendly neighborhood babysitter, who can you trust?? I mean, think about it from Mom and Dad's POV - you think they're playing board games or watching movies while you're out, and the reality is the babysitter is pimping your kid out to a pedophile.

6. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't get any jail time at all.

She's a woman, which makes a huge amount of difference in how sex crimes are charged and prosecuted. She'll likely either get her case pled out, or if it does go to trial, her attorney will paint a picture of an innocent young woman manipulated by the older man, whether it's accurate or not.
