OPINION ON WHETHER CONGRESS SHOULD RECESS FOR SUMMER . . . . ?
I'd rather see them all stay and work --
When they go home for the summer . . . isn't everyone else on vacation?

What do they really do when they go home?

2. No, they should stay right there where they are until they
have found a way to end this war, to impeach *, and deal urgent domestic issues.

The last thing they need to do is to campaign without having accomplished what they were sent there for. Now is not the time to let up.

4. We are a country in crisis - They need to stay and work on the crisis
We are in a war that is never ending and spiraling out of control and at home our constitution is in critical condition following right wing fascist attacks from the executive branch.
Recessing at a time like this could leave the nation vulnerable to further recess executive power grabbing that could topple the nation.

But then, what would Congress do if they were in Washington in August? Sit around and stink up the place from all the heat?

7. This is a no-brainer, and not only because of potential recess appointments.

The Iraqi Parliament's vacation has been a political nightmare for the pro-war crowd. A Congressional recess coming right on it's heels will be portrayed in the same light, and frankly, it should be. These people should NOT be going on extended vacation.

Also, on those recess appointments, if Alberto Gonzalez were replaced in this fashion over the break, you can just wave good-bye to everything that's been accomplished since January. He is the lynch pin to the entire corrupt Bush White House. If they're allowed to just pull him out and replace him with a fresh Yes Man, well... can you say Square One?

8. Dems have a lot of work to do
They need to stay in session. They keep complaining about how much they're working on and how they don't have time for impeachment - fine they should stay there and get it done.

13. Yes, they should take a recess ...
other than some entertainment in the form of "The AG A.G. Show", what are they accomplishing?

Our troops are not coming home in droves. Universal Health Care is no closer than it was when Nancy got the big office and big airplane in January. Other than those two issues, why did we "vote the bums out" in November 06?

14. They should at least have some pro forma
sessions to avoid recess appointments, but a congressional recess is not a month-long vacation. Congresspeople really SHOULD spend time in their districts.

15. I Think They Should All Be Sent To Baghdad
And not to be allowed to come back until they get the job/s done. I am willing to bet that August there will promote compromise and the crossing of party lines. I wonder how Lieberman will vote after having access to electricity for only an hour each day?

16. Because the Shrub always tries to pull something
when they are at bay, I believe it is their duty to stick around and make him frown! No, seriously, they need to stay put, maybe they could take long weekends here and there on short notice- as a way of fooling the BUSHITS. We don't want Bush invading Iran or any number of horrible things, while we're not watching! Just an idea.

17. I Believe The Theory Goes Something Like This...
Many in D.C. believe, that when the Republicans go back home for the month of August, they are going to receive a major ass-chewing from their constituents over the war, Gonzales, among other things, and the fact that they are gonna get creamed in 2008.

Trouble with that theory is...

Many here and across the blogosphere believe, that when the Democrats go back home for the month of August, they are going to receive a major ass-chewing from their constituents over the war, Gonzales, among other things, and the fact that they are might lose in 2008.

Just sayin...
