Dear Bill O'Reilly: the pope really IS a primate.
In his feud with the Daily Kos, the Lord of the Wingnuts complained that a poster at dKos had referred to the Pope as a "primate". Clear proof that "hate speech" permeates that web site, said Falafelmort, who then likened it to the KKK and the Nazis.

A brief look at a dictionary might have been a good idea, though:

Main Entry: pri·mate

Pronunciation: 'prI-"mAt or especially for 1 -m&t
Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English primat, from Anglo-French, from Medieval Latin primat-, primas archbishop, from Latin, leader, from primus

1 often capitalized: a bishop who has precedence in a province, a group of provinces, or a nation
2 archaic: one first in authority or rank : LEADER
3 (New Latin Primates, from Latin, plural of primat-, primas) : any of an order (Primates) of mammals that are characterized especially by advanced development of binocular vision, specialization of the appendages for grasping, and enlargement of the cerebral hemispheres and that include humans, apes, monkeys, and related forms (as lemurs and tarsiers)

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/primate

Now, I'm not sure which of those definitions strikes Billo as "hate speech" and makes him think that dKos is full of murderous psychos, and I sure don't want him sending Fox Security to my house, so I'll just say:

Mr. O'Reilly: I've known primates. Primates have been friends of mine.

You sir, are no primate.

4. "Primate of Italy" is in fact one of the many official titles of the Pope
And if he's hung up on the biological meaning of the word, he should be reminded that the man who coined the term "Primates," Linneus, was a Christian creationists and included humans, apes, and monkeys within the order. In fact, Billo might blow a gasket if he were told that Linneus originally included chimpanzees in the human genus as Homo troglodytes.

Well I'll Be Danged, The Pope Is A Monkey!
Submitted by Bull_Oliarly on Sun, 07/29/2007 - 01:29.

I never knew that the pope was a monkey, but some smart person over at www.democraticunderground.com showed us all that it was true! You can see for yourself here! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&add...

Now I just can't believe that they'd go and let a monkey be a pope, but it really seems to be true. I mean, look at this:

Main Entry: pri·mate

Pronunciation: 'prI-"mAt or especially for 1 -m&t
Function: noun

9. What do you expect from someone who can't tell a loofah from falafel?
Edited on Sat Jul-28-07 09:12 PM by spooky3
Dictionaries are not his friends. Being correct is not a goal.

And it just didn't FEEL right to him to consider that the Pope was a primate.

Thanks for setting US straight anyway! :-)

PS on edit: if this were a weekday, I would fully expect for Keith O. to use your info on WPITW!

29. English is not Bill's first language.
His ancestors are known in many circles for their guttural noises, grunts, and dragging women around by their telephones until they submit to the ancient rituals of his clan.

Until the late 1990s, O'Reilly lived under a rock, in a cave on the side of the mountains in Northern Ireland. Recently, brave anthropologists discovered the last of these creatures and, as an experiment, loaned him to FOX News as part of a grand experiment: could an O'Reilly, despite his humanoid appearance, really make it in a national setting without embarrassing himself? After years of trying various methods of experimentation on radio, on television, and in print, the answer is, apparently, no.

Great post, and thanks for the laugh this morning. K&R

31. Oh jeez what a dumbass!
How can BOR be a Catholic and say he doesn't know what the word primate means, in that sense? Yes, the Pope is "the first of" something, namely the leader of the Church in a country (as well as the world overall), and he is also a member of the homo sapiens sapiens category. So what's the problem?

:spray: bleever, He wasn't always this dumb!.... Once upon a time in the 80's.... Bill O'Reilly reported on Oswald's association with the CIA. Bill O'Reilly's JFK Conspiracy Theory ' YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4OLJthRj6Q Check out the comments! Here is a sample "Wow, what a hypocrite you are O'Reilly. Rosie O'Donnell can't ask simple questions about 9/11 but here you are spouting Conspiracies about the JFK assassination. What a traitor to the country you are, how un-american O'Reilly!"
