Storms roil New England
BOSTON -- Severe storms rolled through New England Saturday, sparking house fires, toppling trees and leaving hundreds of homes in the dark.

Drivers in Winthrop got that "sinking feeling" during today's wild weather. Heavy rains pounded the streets -- and opened up a twenty-inch storm drain.

Lightning appeared to take down part of a chimney at the Campbell Lee Moody Russell funeral home on Dane Street in Beverly.

Lightning also ignited a fire and left a gaping hole in a Woburn house. The owner was not home at the time. A friend who's lived nearby since 1959 ran in to get his hands on whatever he could.
