Cheney needed a new heart
. . . so, he asked his doctor what his options were.

The doctor said, "I've lined up three donors for you to choose from. Pick one.

The first one is a healthy, young, liberal Democrat who was hit by a car, he said. The second one is a middle-aged health nut who was a conservative Libertarian and he died in a boating accident. The third, the doctor said, is an elderly republican who just died in his sleep.

I'll take the republican's heart, Cheney told him. After getting Cheney to sign the consent forms, the doctor asked him why he had chosen the old republican (aside from his obvious affinity to his own kind).

That's easy, Cheney told him. I wanted a heart that had never been used before.
