A cd worth buying
The guy calls himself Popa Chubby and he is classified as Blues, but in this case, it doesn't really matter. The cd is entitlede "Peace, Love and Respect", and is on the Blind Pig label. First, there is nothing at all wrong with the title. Second, there are nothing but anti war tunes on this cd.
He takes on the media in "I'm not afraid", and in the aforementioned tune he flat out states that he's "not afraid of George W. Bush". The first tune on the cd, entitled "Top Ten Reasons I Can't Sleep at Night" tackles se3veral things DUers and all Americans are worried about, such as higher prices, war, facism, and so on. The last two tunes, which are themed, tackle the misinformation about Iraq directly. It is entitled "Midnight Ride/Peace".
A line or two
"And when I stop to look around
and see all the people on the grouind
I realize I've bneen brought up wrong
.....
Right's not right and wars not peace
And wrath does offer no release"...
The man makes a lot of sense. Hope you can put aside any biases you may have about what is labelled as Blues and buy this cd.

Most modern American music has the blues in it somewhere. That's country to jazz to rap and of course, rock and roll.:hippie:

3. Thanks for the heads-up.
I'm a long-time Blues fan (been listening since the late '60s). I've seen Poppa Chubby's name and pics in several Blues mags, but really didn't know anything about his music/style. I'll definitely have to pick this one up.
