USNews: To GOP, 'Bush' Is a Four-Letter Word

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/whispers/articles/070729/6whisplead.htm

<snip>

Here's how tough Capitol Hill is getting for President Bush. In the past, when the GOP urged lawmakers to extend 2001 major tax cuts, they were always dubbed the "Bush tax cuts," since it was his proposal. Not anymore. Now, GOP leaders are starting to refer to them as "Republican tax cuts," a recognition that Bush's name is a deal killer as his popularity declines, says a key congressional aide.

2. The dems need to make
the words synonymous. They shouldn't be able to run away from the complete support for * while they were in the majority. The problem is not just * it's their screwed up philosophy of conservatism that's rotten to the core, it is in no way of any benefit to the people.

3. This is why "we don't have the votes" is (being polite) overly cautious
If forced to actually vote on impeachment, Republicans would be forced to either break with Bush or marry themselves to him.

As long as an impeachment vote is some theoretical nebulousness they'll never have to face, of course they'll stick with him: why invite retribution for no reason?

4. bush's WAR ON IRAQ, bush's
TAX CUTS, bush's denying health insurance to children, bush's no billionaire left behind, bush's everything.

They can try to run from bush but there's no place left for them to hide.
