Need Local election advice
Next tuesday Mississippi will have its primary elections. We have a race for county sheriff and the propaganda and signs are flying.

- One candidates pamphlet tells me he's "A Christian Man" (right there at the top.) It goes on, I have zero tolerance for drugs and I will manage your tax dollars wisely and I will protect your family. Nothing about law enforcement training.

- Another candidates pamphlet leads with I have 34 years of law enforcement experience and more then 2,000 hours of classroom training in professional law enforcement. Nothing about his religion.

Whom should I consider voting for?

2. I believe I would check to see if God talks to the Christian
If so, I would say he would be the best choice. Just think, a bad guy tries to get away and the sheriff can call on a legion of angels to pick him up and whisk him away to jail. Sounds good to me.

3. You might want to dig a little deeper....
but if he feels the need to put the C-word at the top of his sign, he's got one strike against him already, in my book.

Unfortunately, depending where you're at in MS, he may have won the election because of that. Let us know the results.

4. Will do my friend
And the christian is a rich businessman to boot.

Actually I wasn't totally honest. The two in question are both republicans and I will be voting for the Dem of my choice on August 7th. The republicans are spending a ton of money to be chief law enforcement officer in a small rural county.

5. Which one is the incumbent?
Sorry--I had to ask!

One of my all time favorite political stories is about a sheriff's race in Louisiana. The old sheriff had amassed a pretty impressive spread with a huge house--almost an estate--on his public salary. His opponent took him out on a reform campaign claiming mass corruption. Four years later the "reform" sheriff was in hot water and the old sheriff ran again. His campaign was based on the argument he'd made his fortune he could afford to be honest.

He won.

Regards!

Laura

8. Neither
Both are republicans and the incumbent is a republican. There are four republicans and four democrats running in the primary race. I'll vote for the dem of my choice. I do not care for the incumbent, the christian is a rich businessman whom I think wants to buy the election (for God knows what reason,) the other candidate I described is Chief of Police in the county's largest city and has quite an impressive resume. I hope he wins the GOP nomination which would ensure we will get a new sheriff.

7. Vot
The Krishtun one of course.
For thou shalt vote for the right one.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek; and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
