Breaking: Thompson only raised $3M in June....suggests laziness, incompetance...both
Likely GOP presidential contender Fred Thompson raises just over $3 million in June, disappointing some of his Republican backers.

4. People in the know predicted this.
Now understand, I loathe Bob Novak, but Novak called this one correctly.

9. That Thompson would prove a lazy, incompetent candidate
based on his lack of preparedness and smoothness in speaking at a fundraising dinner (I think it was for fundraising... I remember for sure it was a political event/ dinner) back when Thompson's candidacy was just a desperate hope for liberation from McCain and Giuliani and Romney.

Well I don't think Thompson will be liberating the GOP like this.

6. I wish I could only raise 3 million dollars in one month. Our political system is shit..
When 3 million dollars raised in a month is considered crappy, you know our system is just one big capitalist gang bang.

10. I wouldn't take this news too lightly
I think a lot of people are just waiting for him to announce. They may have donated a little to get him off the ground, but are now waiting to see what he does.

I, for one, think that he'll be a tough candidate. Not because he's especially competent, but because of the way the media portrays him. If the MSM says he's the next Reagan, then that's good enough for a lot of Republicans. And he's got a deep baritone voice, so he must be good at protecting us.

11. My vote is for laziness--he thought his name recognition would be enough
But I'm afraid that ship sailed with Lynn Swann's campaign.

14. My guess is that he is going to ingore New Hampsure and Iowa and hope for big days in SC and FL.
All the marble in Florida is not a bad idea but a huge gamble he would have to win decisively to get int the hunt

Iffy proposition but easier if Romeny does not win Iowa and Nea Hampshire outright.

16. I'm not sure Ol' Fred really wants it.
Seems Jeri is determined to be First Floozie, but Fred's just not that excited. Or maybe Fred doesn't get that excited about much of anything.
