1. UK is in a different time zone
they are five hours ahead of us - maybe news takes a while to catch up !?!

or maybe NYT is in the Twilight Zone...

4. Yep
doo doo doo, doo doo doo, doo doo doo.......... It is "a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind", "a place of things and ideas", "between the pit of Man's fears, and the summit of his knowledge."

I guess our media tell it as it is and yours as they're instructed to report it :)

2. What an embarrassment that Bush performance was
Brown must've wondered "what in the hell is wrong w/ him?"

6. I only caught a bit of the conference
but I can say there have been a LOT of reports over here that Brown himself does want to distance himself from the Bush regime....he does see himself as much closer to the Dems apparently...Brown's been making a lot of hints about lowering the Brit troop numbers in Iraq, with many even suggesting there is serious talk of withdrawal now with Brown at the helm

that Brown doesn't become another Bush ally in this contrived conflict.

8. From reading between lines...
he's being the "better statesman" so to speak.....remember for 10 years now he's bided his time to lead the Labour Party here in Britain....he let Blair trip himself up so many times, and if reports are to be believed even authorised his friends to do some leaking to put Blair in it on a number of occasions....I certainly wouldn't underestimate Brown...I think he's a clever man, he's waited and waited for long enough, and he's going to try and show now that he's the better, wiser leader....Very clever move in my humble opinion.
